"Dolph, Landon...why do you two look so dishevelled? What happened?" Kelly asked as she rose from her chair and walked towards the two men.

"This'll be able to explain why we look like shit," Landon said, lifting one end of the body bag.

"What's that?" Miles asked, getting up and standing beside Kelly.

The detectives dropped the bag on the floor, and Dolph pulled down the zipper.

"This," Landon began, "is the monster you're looking for."

Miles peered in and saw the dead, black creature. "Is that the creature that's been killing people?"

"Yep." Landon kicked the bag slightly. "Not so beastly now, are you?" He laughed.

"Cut that out." Dolph nudged his side and he slumped.

"Get it to Antonio," Kelly instructed. Turning to Miles, she continued, "Go with them. I want a full report on what this thing is."

"But you already know what it is," he retorted.

"She does?" Dolph asked, wide-eyed.

"You do?" Landon posted the question directly to her.

She sighed. "There have been rumours, but a full autopsy on the creature could confirm what the creature is," she explained.

"How do you know about the creature?" Landon asked more sternly.

"I'm sorry, are you questioning your Chief?" Kelly scowled at him.

"We have every right," Miles said. "As the Chief, you're not supposed to withhold information."

"It was for the greater good. I was trying to keep everyone from panicking." She looked out the door beyond Landon and Dolph and saw a crowd gathering and pointing fingers. "See? That's exactly what I was trying to avoid. Zip it up and take it to Antonio. No one else is to know you have that thing here, except us. Until we figure out a way to stop these things, if there are more, remain discreet."

Landon, Dolph and Miles did as they were told and went to Antonio, who gasped and almost ran out of the laboratory when they opened the bag.

"What the hell is that thing?" he asked the three detectives.

"Could you run some tests and find out?" Miles asked before Landon or Dolph could voice their opinions. "We'll be back to check it out later." And he brushed his partners out of the lab.

"No, don't leave me in here with this thing!" Antonio shouted after them.

"It's already dead," Miles said and shut the door.

Antonio growled but there was nothing else he could do except his job. He stared at the monster from the corner of his eyes and thought he saw a limb move and he doubled back, bumping into a table with laboratory equipment. He stared at it for a while, ensuring that it wasn't still alive, then breathed out and walked over to the table they placed it on. After calming his nerves, he undid the rest of the zipper and pulled the creature out of the bag. Then he started to run the necessary tests.
