"Now, can the two of you please tell me what the heck happened to make you look like this?" Miles asked, pointing at their attire. Their shirts weren't buttoned properly, were out if their pants and covered in specks of blood.
"Isn't it obvious that we had a run-in with that thing?" Landon asked, perturbed. He scoffed and crossed his arms, looking away from him.
"Don't mind him," Dolph said, putting an arm around Landon. "He's just a little upset because I had a close encounter with the creature."
"Well, that's one way to put it." Landon rolled his eyes and shrugged off his arm. "I thought you were dead! You have no idea how devastated I was."
Miles felt a bit uncomfortable listening to the two argue. He thought he was imposing with his presence. He looked at his watch. 11:30p.m.. "Guys, I have somewhere to be, so I'm gonna take off."
"I'm sorry for almost dying!" Dolph said, completely ignoring Miles. Dolph looked angry. How could Landon think that the creature dragging him away was his own fault? After all, he did try his best to fight the damn thing off, and he won. "I didn't ask to be hauled off by that infernal monster, you know!"
"Well, I wish I'd get hauled off now because you clearly don't know what it feels like to have something taken away from you just like that!"
"I'm just gonna leave--," Miles started, but was cut off by Dolph.
"Why are you being such a brat?!"
"A brat?" Landon's eyes widened. "A brat?!" He scoffed, "You know what? Whatever we've had going on...consider it over."
"Don't say that! You don't really mean that." Dolph, with a sad expression, reached out to hold Landon's arms, but he pulled away.
"I do mean that!"
"Then fine! Have it your way!" Then the two parted ways, storming off and seething, tension left behind to linger around Miles, who stood awkwardly and watched.
He muttered, "See you guys later...?" Then, he stepped into the elevator and went to Chief Summers' office. He told her that he had a funeral to attend.
"Okay, give my condolences," she said, excusing him.
"I will," he answered. He left her office, went to the parking lot, and then departed from the building.
