In the land of Rugmont it is said that Mother Earth came down from the high mountain and created the human race. When Mother Earth was betrayed by her brother who is known only as the Underlord She left the world she created for the sanctity of the sky. There is only one person that now calls the mountain their home and she is not easily mistaken due to her long lavander colord hair and eyes to match. Her name is Shira but her official title is The Voice of the Earth. The Voice is the only one that hears from Her. The sacred mountain in which she lives stretches to the heavens. Shira is not the first Voice nor will she be the last. When her life nears its end she will come down from the mountain and choose as successor.
It is rare for The Voice of the Earth to leave her home inside the mountain, but not unheard of. Occasionally the Voice will come out of the mountain and to the capital city of Oril where she will preach the words of the Mother. The king of Rugmont is a kind man and all are welcome at his estate in Oril, including the Voice. One day the Lady Shira decided to trek to the castle despite the heavy snowfall. She walked into the throne room and demanded that all the guards leave the King Angelo and herself alone. The guards looked to their king for further instructions and he nodded.
"What is the reason for your visit Lady Shira? I have sent many invitations to you to come and stay here, but each time you politely refused." The king's voice was welcoming but a hint of concern did not go unnoticed to the lady. "Tell me King Angelo, what is the reason behind your name." A puzzled look showed on the king's face as he tried to make sense of the question he was asked. "My father, the king before me knew how hard of a challenge would fall before me. He chose my name because it derived from the word angel and he wanted the heavens to be on my side." In Rugmont a name is chosen because someone grows into the name they are given. If a girl is named after a flower, for example, they grow to be extremely beautiful. There are some names, however that have such a powerful meaning that only Mother Earth can bestow them onto a child.
"I come to talk about the Queen Lenora and of your unborn son." Until now King Angelo had no knowledge of his child's gender but the Voice of the Earth was never wrong. "The Mother has foreseen great challenges in the unborn prince's future and has decided that is time to use one of the sacred names. Before this night is over your queen will go into labor. You will have a son, and he will be named Pierce." Lady Shira's words proved to be true as just before the midnight hour Queen Lenora gave birth to a boy, fair-skinned like his mother with blonde hair that marked him to be from the royal bloodline. In the morning Prince Pierce was brought before the people of Orill and at the sound of his name the people looked away from the face of their newly born prince.
