The Ultimate Prank

It was a lonely day. The day that one would have to live while the other did not. Time stood still. The famous Weasley twins would no longer be able to stand in their shop, smiling and laughing, selling pranks to the naive first years. No longer would they be found in their lab creating new products, or playing pranks at holidays when everyone was home. But most of all, neither of them would ever be seen smiling again. At least, that is what everyone thought.

This is why no one noticed. No one noticed that the young man in the coffin only had one ear, or that his twin now had two. None of them noticed when the clock turned so that both twins were 'home'. No one, except Harry Potter, even noticed the small smirk playing on the 'living' twin's lips or the sparkle of mischief in his eye.

They were at his funeral at the time. To be more precise, they were halfway through it. Currently, Harry was getting prepared to speak. He had agreed to speak and then, after realizing that both twins were very much alive, planned with the 'dead' twin.

"And now, a close friend has agreed to speak. Harry, whenever you are ready." Harry got up, leaving Ginny to lean on the 'living' twin. "Hello. For many of us here, this occasion is immensely difficult... Merlin, that must be the understatement of the century." At this, a few in the crowd chuckled and smirked. "But, he will live on ... in our hearts and our minds." As this was said, a low groan could be heard coming from the coffin. Everyone looked in disbelief before Harry started speaking again, smirking internally. "And even so, I believe that our dearest friend and brother is somewhere familiar to some of us. Yes, I will admit this is a day of sorrow and grief, but he will never be forgotten. We will remember him through his shop, his jokes, his smile. But most of all, we will remember him through his twin." At this moment in his speech, Harry looked first to the coffin, then to the living twin and nodded in a gesture that only the two understood.

"I am a firm believer that we will see him again. Some sooner than others, but we will indeed see him again." As he said this, he moved over to the coffin. "It's time, my friend." With this one small sentence, the living twin stood, leaving Ginny and made his way over to the coffin. He then did something no one expected. He lifted the lid of the coffin and reached a hand in. Harry also reached a hand in and the two pulled up. Now, to the surprise of all those in attendance, the man previously laying in the coffin slowly opened his eyes.

The field in which the funeral was being held erupted into shocked gasps and cries. One guest in particular could not contain herself. She began to sob into her husband's chest as they tried to process the fact that all their children were still very much alive.

Harry, now standing back at the podium with a twin on each side of him, attempted to regain the attention of everyone there. "Please, everyone. May we have your attention." At these words, everyone looked skeptically at the three young men standing in front of them. "I know that this is shocking. After all, it isn't every day that a dead man walks." Here Harry looked at the two redheads beside him, then to the rest of the Weasley family. " Now, without further adue, here is the 'dead man'."

Now, to the surprise of everyone in the audience, the man on Harry's left, the one that everyone thought to be George, stepped up to the podium to start talking. "Good afternoon all. I do hope that this has been a pleasant surprise. It certainly was fun. Besides, don't you know my brother is Holy! Did none of you notice that I am no Saint, not like him! Merlin." Fred said, smirking gleefully at those gathered before him. Before continuing, he and George shared a look as Harry started to move off, knowing that the twins were about to need a whole lot more space.

After Harry returned to his seat next to Ginny, Fred and George looked straight at their mother with a face of pure mischief. As they both opened their mouths, Molly looks at them in near disbelief, knowing what they are about to say. " You don't even notice and still, you call yourself our mother..." At these words, Molly burst into a new wave of tears, running up to the podium and nearly tackling her mischievous twins in a bone crushing hug.

She thought back on the weeks she had spent with 'George'. He had seemed different, yes, but she had assumed that was caused by the loss of his twin brother - his other half. Never in her wildest dreams would she have thought the boys, her boys would pull off something like this.

"Mum, I know you're ecstatic, but if you don't let us breathe pretty soon, you won't have either of us alive." Fred said, bringing Molly out of her thoughts. She let go of her sons and stepped back, taking a good look at them. As she wept at the sight of her babies, she thanked whatever God there was for giving her this miracle; for keeping her twins together.

A/N: This is my story. Some of you may have already read it. I previously had my friend publish for me, but she gave her account to someone else, so now I decided to post it. A big shoutout to citygirl5050 She was the first one to read through this.
