"Tell me it gets easier. Just lie to me and tell me it stops hurting at some point."

I WATCHED SOLEMNLY AS THE RECTANGULAR, HOLLOW HOLE WAS DUG OUT OF THE GROUND. The white sheets stained with crimson lay beside the grave, this is how the people who lived on Earth years ago disposed of their loved ones.

To me, it was better than being sucked out of the Ark never to be seen again. At least, here, we would know that Atom would be buried here. He would always remain here, among the trees, the flowers and the kind sky. Octavia stood beside Bellamy who held a serious expression, my hands shook slightly as I eyed the sheets. I gripped a flower tightly in my hand as a tear rolled down my cheek. Judah gaze fell on me, I noticed from the corner of my eye that he wasn't really sure what to do, he was a good friend and I was glad to have him on my side. Sadly, Atom was the third victim of earth, I watched as Octavia dropped a flower onto the white sheet as Atom was lowered into his final resting place.

I stepped forward and kneeled down on the dirt at the edge of the grave, I gently placed the flower into the and gently muttered a verse of a poem which Atom had once read to me.

"When the best was shining through within, you insisted on blocking the light, now I'm at war with myself and the good side is losing the fight."

Judah placed a hand on my shoulder and I nodded, he helped me to my feet and gently pulled me away as the first shovel of dirt fell on the white sheet, I felt Bellamy's gaze burn my back as I walked towards the drop ship with Judah. Octavia glared at my retreating form, I entered the drop ship to see Clarke and Wells arguing.

"You're going to have listen to me at some point Clarke." Wells states as he marched out of the drop ship.

Clarke sent me a small grimace and I wiped my eyes quickly, I saw she had a cloth in her hand.

"I just came to see Jasper, how's he doing?" I questioned as I edged closer to the ladder.

"He's doing okay, but people are becoming uneasy with his constant screams. I found some medicinal seaweed which might help his healing process."

"Yeah hopefully, so you and Wells are still fighting?" I noticed how Clarke narrowed her eyes slightly.

"It's not fighting, it's more like an unforgivable thing..." Clarke trailed off as she crossed her arms over her chest.

I turned to leave, but stopped and glanced over my shoulder at Clarke with a sigh.

"Promise me one thing, you'll work things out with Wells because life is too short. I learned that the hard way." I finished as I turned and walked out of the drop ship.

There was mild chatter around the camp, it had really set in that earth was not all we had originally thought. Octavia stood near the wall with a permanent glare, I avoided her gaze and ducked into my tent. I sat down on the cot with a sigh, I was exhausted but sleep was always a problem. I let my head rest in my hands as I thought for a moment, I wondered how things had changed so drastically since we had arrived here. Earth had already claimed three lives with one hanging in the balance, the harsh conditions had torn people down and the constant fear had bestowed a will in people to try and survive because we all now knew how cruel the planet could be. The material rustled and Octavia appeared looking angrier than before, her eyes flashed with fury and somehow I knew this wasn't going to end well.
