Hartley's P.O.V
"Honestly Hartley, do you even like me?" she said in a irritated tone of voice through the phone and I chuckled as I was retrieving dried clothes from our dryer. Ma was still sleeping which was completely alright, I did have to actually check in with her because it seemed like she wasn't breathing but she was. "What do you mean? Of course I like you" I responded back to her and I heard a sigh before she spoke, "then why aren't you here?" she asked for probably the hundredth time and I sighed for the hundredth time as I calmly told her, "Baby I'll be a bit la--"
"You are meeting someone very important to me Ha--" "I know that but I can't help it, I don't wanna leave all these chores for ma to do. Poppy you know that" I told her now in a more serious tone and there was silence for a minute, "I'm sorry" she said softly and I felt my heart flutter at the way she said it. At times whenever Poppy gets to excited to do something with me, she sometimes forgets what I have to do around home and what are my responsibilities which honestly to me is fine.
I've gotten to learn that Poppy adores attention, especially mine and I give her that but whenever I don't, she get upsets. I just have to explain things to her more then once. "I'm so stupid and I should be un--" I came back to my thoughts to hear Poppy rambling nonsense about herself and I hated when she put herself down because she thought I would be upset or what not.
"You are understanding baby, I really adore that and you're not stupid. I see those grades girl" I told her and instantly her girly laughter that once annoyed me a bit, now soothed my insides. "You're goofy" she whispers through the phone and I shrugged but then thought it was stupid because she couldn't see me. "I'll be over in five minutes, can't wait to meet your best friend of all time as you say" I told her and she squealed as I then laughed at her happiness.
"Okay baby girl, We'll s--" "Don't call me that" I whined into the phone as the two words racked a shiver down my spine and she knew not to call me that either. "I'm sorry baby girl, I'll--" "Poppy" "Bye!" she interrupted me and hang up when I said her name. I smiled at the thought of Poppy, each days that we've spent together I've become more fond of her and even though she drives me crazy one day the next I am completely all over her, I didn't know what was happening but I sure as fudge ain't complaining.
Poppy's P.O.V
"This girlfriend of yours is a bit late" her squeaky voice said and I sighed as I then bit my lip for the a thousandth time as I thought of what was holding Hartley up since she told she would be here in five minutes. It's been thirty minutes since then. Even though I was so annoyed with Hartley a bigger part of me was worried.
I was worried about her, hundreds of ways that I thought of possibilities to stop her from coming over such as her mom went to the hospital or even she or something happening with Richie and what not. My fingers were itching to call her but someone had stolen my phone and told me I wasn't allowed to bother someone who didn't want to be bothered, I nearly went off on her but kept my cool because Layla is after all my best friend.
