Bihira lang umuwi si Cassian sa Manila dahil madalas ay nasa London siya. He's a businessman at walang panahon sa social life. Sooner or later, he will inherit my grandfather's company. Kaya kapag andito siya, palagi kami nagbobonding.
"Kuya, hindi ka pa ba mag-aasawa? You are not getting any younger," tanong ko kay Kuya Cassian habang nasa isang luxury club kami.
Apat na taon ang tanda niya sa akin, samantalang dalawang taon lang ang tanda ko kay Calix na fourth year college na. Calix is on the dance floor and is dancing with different women. A heartbreaker in the making.
"There is no such thing as true love. Hassle lang yan. At ikaw Caleb? Kailan mo aaminin sa akin ang feelings mo sa PA mo?"
"Wwhat? What the hell are you talking about?" deny to death kong sagot.
"Cassie, you love her right?"
"Whoaaah, dude. Anong pinagsasabi mo? Kanina mo lang nakita ung PA ko sa backstage at may theory ka na agad na mahal ko siya?"
"Caleb, I know you since you were in diapers," sabi ni Kuya Cassian sabay akbay sa akin.
Kung paano niya nalaman ang feelings ko kay Cassie, it is a great mystery. Wala naman love life ang kuya ko. Wala din girlfriends, puro flings lang.
Fortune teller kaya siya?
"Cassie is a friend."
"Friend is an operative word. And you are fucking friends now? Come on, Caleb. I can understand if you will hide it from Calix, pero sa akin? I can see right through you. The way you look at her, it is completely different. I bet even mom can sense it."
"Fine! Yes, I like her. I like Cassie. I threatened her because of some petty charges and I demanded to be her fuck buddy in exchange. She's a friend, but she probably thinks I am an asshole."
"You are always an asshole, Caleb."
"I know and I will just put her in a difficult situation right now."
"I guess you have to choose between career and love. Make sure to choose wisely."
Ever since dumating si Cassie sa buhay ko, I felt strange. I keep thinking about her as if she's haunting me and I have no choice but to force her to be my fuck buddy. I want her, all of her.
I want to protect her in this monstrous world that I am living in, pero minsan pakiramdam ko, I have to protect her from the monster which is me.
