One month later...
Jane watched through the window as she saw her son Tyler and Ex-husband pulled into the downstairs parking lot. Tyler actually looked happy whenever he was with his father William, unlike when he was with her. He wouldn't smile, he wouldn't even look at her without glaring. Jane knew her son blamed her for the split, William wanted to come back but she had told him No, multiple times. When Tyler asked why his father didn't live with them anymore she couldn't tell him it was because she found him fucking his old babysitter, an 8 year old wouldn't understand that. One top of it all, she had to look at Grace everyday though she tried not to. She wish she could just move out of the building all together, or at least another apartment but she couldn't afford that.
Soon, their was a knock at her door and her thoughts were interrupted. There her Ex and her son stood before her.
"Mom, I want to stay with Dad" Tyler stated as soon as she opened the door.
"W-what?" She questions. She feels her heart breaking just a little bit. "But sweetie-"
"Dad said I could stay with who ever I wanted to, he just wants me to be happy"
Though her heart was breaking she also felt anger. Her entire life was falling apart and there was nothing she could do about it. Seems they both prefer some one over her. Fine.
"Fine" Her voice cracked a bit and she felt tears burning the back of her eyes. She had to leave, she refused to let them see her cry. "If that would make you happy son, go ahead" She walked forward bumping into William on her way out.
"Jane-"
"Save it" She said in a harsh tone.
"Mom-" Her son called out. His voice betraying his guilt. She knew the situation was hard on her son, he just needed someone to lash out on, but why did it have to be her, she didn't do anything wrong. If she held on to him she knew he'd just keep rejecting her and she couldn't face that. So instead of responding she exited the apartment and closed the door behind her. Only then did she allow the tears to fall.
Heading to the elevator she waited for it to open only for Grace to be standing there.
"Jane, are-"
"Don't you dare speak to me you little home wrecker"
"I'm sorry" The girl whispered as she glanced down at the floor having difficulty looking the woman in her eyes. She'd do anything to make it up to Jane. "I didn't mean to-"
"Shut up" Jane snapped. She walked inside the elevator but not before bumping her shoulder roughly into Grace. She heard the teen whimper as she quickly exited the elevator. Little brat, she wanted to do so much more than that.
If only she could.
