It's been a week since her son has left, and her whole life is falling apart. Good thing she works at one of her father's pet store other wise she would have lost her manager position at the store. No one else would have been able to understand the month and a half (paid) vacation she was taking while she wallow in self pity. But wallowing is fun when you get to sit around the house and eat rockie road ice-cream all day. She's sure she's put on at least 5 pounds since that day. Her hair is a mess, and so is her home. When Tyler left she didn't need to put on appearances anymore. She didn't clean the house, she rarely washed the dishes, and who remembers when the last load of laundry was performed. She didn't know how longer she could put that last one off as she was running out of clean clothes to mope around the house in.
Sitting on the sofa watching reality T.V while shoveling ice-cream in her mouth became a daily task. Unlike most days she received a knock on her door, remembering the Chinese take out she ordered for lunch today she turned the T.V off and placed the tub of ice-cream on the coffee table. As she opened the door rage filled her and she was about to close the door again before a foot was placed in the way preventing the door from closing all the way.
"Have you lost your mind?" Jane questioned angrily.
"Please, Mrs. Bryant , I just want to talk" Grace pleaded.
"There's nothing to talk about, haven't you done enough?"
"Please, I just want to apologize for what happened"
"You think an apology will make what you did right, you think an apology will make me forgive you for what you have done you little slut" Her voiced raised and she found herself clenching her fist. Everything within her wanted to beat the shit out of the teen that stood in front of her, if she knew without a shadow of doubt that the teen wouldn't run off and tell on her she would have. "It won't. I HATE you, don't you understand that? I trusted you with the care of my son, and because of you, I have not only lost my husband, but my son as well. How can you sleep at night knowing what you have done? Knowing that you single handedly ruined my life"
Grace stood in front of the door, tears streaming down her face. Jane was right. She couldn't sleep at night. She kept imagining scenarios where things were different. She imagined herself saying no to Mr. Bryant that night. She imagined herself leaving when he started to kiss her, because she knew it was wrong. She wish she could say she was under the influence when it happened, but she couldn't even do that. She did a shitty thing that will stick with her for the rest of her life. She wanted to make it better, to ease the quilt just a little bit but she didn't know how.
"Please, I just want you to forgive me. I'll do anything to make things right, I'll do anything that you say, Anything, please, just tell me how to make it up to you" Grace pleaded.
"Get your fucking feet from out my door. Leave, Go away. I cannot and will not forgive you, ever!" When the teen didn't move her feet right away Jane stepped on it hard enough for her to hiss in pain and remove it, before she slammed the door in the teens face.
