Ch. 2

I stood in the hall with Gandalf as he answered the door The stood another dwarf but he was different from the others he had a sadness or a loss in his eyes .

"Gandalf ." His voice was deep and gravely he only peaked to me briefly . "I thought you said this place would be easy to find . I lost my way , twice . ." He started removing his hood than he handed it to me expecting that I was a maid of some sort . I glared before biting my tongue and hanging it up rude . "I wouldn't have found it had it been for that mark on the door . "

Bilbo pushed through the crowd of Dwarfs . "Mark? There's no mark on that door. " He stated to the dwarf . "It was painted a week ago ."

Gandalf closed the door . "There is a mark. I put it there myself. " He looked to the dark haired dwarf than to Bilbo and I . "Bilbo Baggins Mira lightwind , Allow me to introduce the leader of our company : Thorin Oakenshield . "

Thorin walked toward Bilbo . "So .. this is the hobbit . " He started to Circle my little brother making me grab Bilbo's hand little did this dwarf know that if he hurt my brother I would set him on fire I could feel grass appearing at my feet with flowers . "Tell me, Mr. Baggins , have you done much fighting ?"

"Pardon me?" Bilbo asked squeezing my hand .

"Ax or sword?"

"What's your weapon of choice ?"

"Well , I do have some skill at conkers , if you must know.. " My brother fidgeted under his gaze. "But I fail to see how that's relevant . "

"Thought as much . He looks more like more a grocer than a Burglar ." I couldn't help it my anger boiled over causing the Hobbit hole to shake a bit when the rest laughed at my brother .

"Calm your self Mira ." Gandalf Spoke from behind me I blushed at how I had let my temper get to me breathing out I saw Fili look at me in surprise .

Later -

"What news from the meeting in Ered Luin? Did they come ?" Asked Balin as all the dwarfs were sat at the table with there ales .

"Aye. Envoys from all seven kingdoms . " Thorin .

"All of them!" Balin spoke .

Dwalin looked to Thorin as he asked . "And what did the dwarves of the iron hills say? Is Dain with us ?"

"They will not come ." He answered with a pause . "They say the quest is ours and ours alone . "

"Your going on a Quest? " Bilbo asked from beside Gandalf peeking to me as I leaned against the entrance to the dining room behind Thorin .

"Bilbo my dear fellow, let us have a little more light ." Gandalf asked him . "Far to the east over ranges and rivers ." Gandalf took out a small map as I handed Bilbo a candle for light . "Beyond woodlands and waste lands lies a single, Solitary peak . "

Bilbo and I stood closer to the map I read of it . "The lonely mountain ." Bilbo whispered with me .

Gloin spoke out . "Aye, Oin has read the portents , and the portents say it is time . "

Oin nodded "The ravens have been flying back to the mountain , as it was foretold. 'When the birds of yore return to Erebor the reign of the beast will end."

I peaked at Bilbo who was standing in the pantry He froze I could see his cogs turning maybe he was interested in the quest . "Uh, what beast ?"

Bofur puffed his pipe "That would be a reference to Smaug the terrible chaifest and greatest Calamity of our age . Airborne fire-breather. teeth like razors claws like meat hooks . Extremely fond of precious metals . "
