Chapter thirteen: The Date 🥂
I decided on a simple outfit. A pair of ripped jeans, plain t-shirt that I knotted at the front and a grey woollen cardigan. My converse topped it off. I didn't want to dress up but then again, I didn't want to dress down. I didn't know if it was a date or not. But one can assume?
I realised, typical of me, that I forgot to ask the time. I grabbed my phone and hastily texted him, 'what time?'
He was probably looking at his phone confused af... but how was I supposed to be prepared for a date (or not a date) without knowing the time.
Ace: Open the door 😁
"Shit" I hissed, rushing from my room. I grabbed my bag off the counted before I left and threw it over my shoulder. I could see the top of Ace's head in the window of the door. So he wasn't lying at least.
I went to open the door when I heard Ryder behind me, "Where are you off to all flustered?" He asked. He was creeping me out.
"I'm going out for a while. Don't wait up." I said and slipped out the door without revealing Ace. "We have to run." I said bluntly and we flew down the path.
I virtually launched myself into his car and sat there panting. "Jeez Monroe... Are you on something?" He asked. Breathing as heavily as me.
"No. Ryder is though. He's onto me." I looked out the window and watched Ryder milling around the doorway. I thanked the heavens that Ace had parked beside the house, out of the way of the doorway.
"Oh. You didn't tell him?" He said quietly.
"No, of course not." I spat, laughing.
"What do you mean 'of course not'?" He glared at me. Oh great.
"You two have fallen out, right?" I said, it was obvious really. They aren't getting along. What good would it do if I told Ryder that Ace was taking me out.
Ace shrugged, "Fair enough." And started the car.
(3 hours later)
"May I ask how you didn't flinch throughout the whole movie?" Ace asked, a terrified look on his face. It was scary, I'll give it that, but it didn't entail Ace screaming like a girl.
"It would've been scary, and I would've flinched if someone wasn't screaming like a little girl." I giggled, "it was too funny."
Ace frowned, hurt pride? I pulled my cardigan around me and let out a long sigh, "Thanks Ace. I really needed this." He smiled at me and stuffed his hands in his pockets.
"It's really no problem. I needed to get out the house myself. It was an escape for both of us. Besides, I got to take the pretty girl on a date." He smirked. So it was a date.
"What's happening at your place. If you don't mind me asking..." I instantly regretted it. His face turned grave but quickly perked up, "sorry, you don't have to-"
"No, no really it's fine." He sighed, "my parents are splitting up and it's caused a massive divide in our house. My sister wants to go with my dad but my mom doesn't want her to. My mom wants me to go with my dad." His face dropped.
"What do you want to do?" I asked, placing my hand on his bicep. He stiffened for a minute before relaxing.
"I don't mind. As long as the arguments stop. The only problem is, my dad will move me miles away. I don't want to move." He looked to me with sad eyes. So we are complete opposites in this situation then.
"If it helps. My parents - well, adoptive parents - are moving to Sweden because of some business deal. They want me to stay but-" I shook my head, "yeah. Same situation." I laughed awkwardly.
"You want to go to Sweden?" He said. Looking slightly hurt, "why? You have so many friends here?"
I laughed and smiled widely at him, "I don't know. I have you and Shannon. Ryder just seems interested in getting in my pants at the moment. Lexi doesn't speak to me and Foster and Landon sort of creep me out." I grinned but he didn't return it.
"What is Ryder trying to do?" Oh shit.
"Nothing. It's all good now." I tried but failed to lie.
Ace walked backwards, his face burning red. Oh no. I walked after him but he pushed me away, pulling his phone out of his pocket, "Ryder. You listen to me right now. You fucking lay a hand on Alex again, I will personally drag you to hell." He paused for a moment, "I don't care if you're sorry. I warned you the day of the party! I wanted this Ryder. Don't you understand, can't I have anything?" I shut myself off during the argument.
I wanted this Ryder.
I warned you.
Can't I have anything?
Don't fucking lay a hand on her.
"Alex." I heard Ace say, snapping me out of my thoughts, I looked at him, stunned, "I need to tell you something."
He pulled me to a park bench and sat down next to me, "just hear me out please. When we first saw you in the football field...I thought you were the most gorgeous fucking girl I had ever seen. Ryder mocked me, laughed at me." He laughed silently to himself, "I didn't listen... I was the one who persuaded Ryder to get you to sit with us. Told him to fein some sort of guilt to get you here. He did and I loved him for that..."
"The night of the party, I saw my opportunity, I took it. I didn't mean for you to feel as though you were just some dare, you were way more than that. Shannon then said what she said and I- I hoped that it'd somehow click. It didn't." I laughed, "but then, when you were nursing a hangover yourself and you helped us all. Jesus... that made me fall harder." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Ryder found out. He started to see just how loving you were. How gorgeous you are..." a muscle feathered in his jaw, "and he snapped. He started playing his game. You saw in the cafeteria, on the way home." I nodded, "truth is, he wants what he can't get."
I lifted a brow at him, "who says Ryder can't get me?" I defended.
And fucking Ace Whitely...
Said something that almost undid me...
"Because you're mine."
Almost.

Sooooo, what do you think of this little confession. I think having two possessive badboys is probably the way to go. I understand that it may be a little bit hard to see how Ace is a badboy but... you didn't think this book was gonna be smooth sailing right? I'm not that sort of author.
Jokes. I want it to end well but I don't at the same time. My next book will end well... and I have PLANS!!!!! Woooo
Anyways. Enjoy the rest of the book. I presume it'd be like 29-32 chapters long. Plus and epilogue and a few bonus chapters.
Now. This is going to get a lot more cliché, I don't know if you guys want the typical cliché badboy story.
Just comment and I'll see.😁
