Chapter fifteen: Family Time 🤷🏻‍♀️

I woke up early the next day. It was Saturday. Kath was awake in he kitchen desperately trying to feed a very reluctant Terri. She was swearing softly under her breath as the baby was pushing the spoon away.

"Are you okay?" I asked. Kath turned around and shook her head.

"Do me a favour Alex. Don't have kids." I laughed and she smiled, "could you help me out please..." she asked, I walked over to her and occupied Terri whilst Kath was spooning some porridge into her mouth.

"She's gorgeous." I said, "reminds me of my little brother." I whispered.

"Thank you," she grinned, "how come you're stopping here?" She asked. Pulling faces at her daughter, who clearly adored her mother.

"My adoptive parents sent me here for a few nights while they went on a business trip and... basically decided to move out of the country. Leaving me here." Kath's jaw went slack.

"I could never leave Terri with anyone for a day let alone leave the country without her." She lifted Terrin from the chair and walked over to the sink to clear her breakfast from her face. Nice to know some mothers will reject opportunities to stay with their children. But, being realistic, she isn't my real mother. I don't even know who my real mother is.

Bennett came down a few moments later and caught me and Kath tucking into our cereal at the kitchen island. Terri was perched on top of the island playing with a toy. Bennett looked adoringly at his daughter, gave her a kiss on the cheek. Then he proceeded to kiss Kath. See, that is what I want.

After a few hours of continuous conversation, I finally excused myself from the table and got ready for the day. I didn't quite know what I was going to do. I'll probably see if Shannon wants to go out.

(The outfit she chose to wear...........)

Turns out, Shannon was busy, Lexi didn't want to go out, Ace was going to a football game with Foster and Landon

Turns out, Shannon was busy, Lexi didn't want to go out, Ace was going to a football game with Foster and Landon. Ryder was out of the equation... but I really wanted to go out.

I walked upstairs and caught Harriett leaving the bathroom clad in mismatched pajamas, "Hey Harriett!" I called, she stopped and smiled at me, "which room is Ryder's?" I asked as innocently as possible.

She raised a brow at me and folded her arms, "why?" She drawled.

"I want to go out!" I shouted desperately, "unless you want to?" I asked.

"I wish I could but I have a huge exam to cram for. Sorry Al, but if you are that desperate," she glared at me for a moment, "it's that door." She pointed to a door that was located at the very end of the hall on the left side. I thanked her and dashed down the hall. Virtually crashing into Ryder's door.

"What the fu-" he opened the door and visibly relaxed when he saw me, thank gods he had a shirt on because that could've been distracting...

"Hi, erm, are you busy?" I asked. Ryder shook his head and smirked, leaning against the doorframe, "well, do you want to go out?"

"Hmm? I don't know. You see, I have a hard time enjoying the company of those who I fail to trust." He started, "maybe if you tell me where you dashed off to on Thursday, I can be more... forgiving." Forgiving? Seriously?

"One, you mean forgetting, I didn't nothing wrong to you. And I went to the movies to watch some new horror movie. It was pretty good." I shrugged. Please don't ask who, please don't ask who.

"Give me two minutes." He said, shutting the door in my face. Harriett was standing outside her door.

"You filthy liar!" I shushed her.

"Technically I didn't lie. I just didn't tell him everything." I reasoned, Harriett glared at me.

"Look. I am hardly on my brothers side for anything, but you have to tell him you were with Ace. He will be mad as fuck if you don't." Harriett's eyes widened.

"Harriett Louise Moore! Did you just use a profanity under my roof?" Beth shouted, charging out of her room with a robe tightly wrapped around her, she was clutching Logan in her arms, "If I ever hear you using such language again, I will ground you." Harriett nodded and waited until her mom had walked away.

"Don't forget what I said..." she blushed viscously and stormed back into her room.

Ryder came out his room shortly after, he hadn't done much except from gel his hair up and throw on a leather jacket. "Lets go then." He said.

"Ryder... I have to tell you who I was-"

"Who you were with? I know who you were with, I saw Ace's car. I'm not mad, I treated you like shit. You aren't just one of my hump and dump missions Alex. You are way more than that." He walked past me and left me standing on the top of the stairs, dazed.

Kath ran up them, "hey, you okay?" She asked, resting a hand on my shoulder, "loving your outfit by the way!" She shouted, running off.

Okay, so she didn't wait for an answer. It's cool though. I'm fine. "I'm fine." I called after her, hoping she would still hear me.

Ryder was waiting outside, "why were you doing?" He asked. I shook my head and walked towards his car.  We were set inside of it, "So, what do you want to do?" He asked. Hands on the wheel.

Well, I didn't think that far ahead, "Well... this is the thing. I didn't think about what I wanted to do."

Ryder groaned and slumped forward, his head hitting the steering wheel with a thump. "Tell you what, I'll take us somewhere. You just sit there quietly and don't ask questions."

I nodded and allowed him to drive off. I wasn't worried, I trusted Ryder. I trusted Ryder, that was the single most terrified thing I have ever thought.
