Moving on

Thanks Giving and Christmas passed and both boys went home. Dayton got into his dream College. Nebraska University in Lincoln. Both Klaribele and I got into Royal Holloway, University of London.

It is graduation day and we are all nervous to step off the high school bridge and walk into adulthood.

Right now we are all waiting to step on the smooth auditorium flooring. It was sorted from honor roll, top of the class, on grade, then to just barely passing.

Klaribele, Dayton, and I were all honor roll. We started to walk on stage. We all took our seats and waited until everyone was sitting. We all said the Pledge Of Allegiance, then the principal walked up to the microphone and began.

"Leadership, like everything else, is fast changing in the 21st century. The military is overhauling its philosophy and practice of leadership, as I have heard this year from my new Tucson friends who are Air Force officers; it realizes we must place a higher priority on flexibility, initiative, creativity than ever before, and that command has become more about influencing than directing others."

"Author Dan Pink published this year Drive, a book demanding the complete reinvention of management; he calls upon us to place autonomy, mastery, and purpose at the paramount goals of each and every work-place and institution."

"Similarly, in his recent book Tribes, the brilliant Seth Godin explains that"

"The power of this new era is simple: if you want to, or need to, or mus, lead then you can. Every leader I have met shares one thing and one thing only: the decision to lead."

"The secret of leadership is simple: Do what you believe in. Paint a picture of the future. Go there. People will follow."

"These developments in leadership have been anticipated for many years by educational leaders: the best schools and universities have always been places where principals, headmasters, and presidents have chosen to lead in ways that honor and celebrate the individuality of their followers."

Everyone clapped. "This year was excellent. Seniors worked hard, and it paid off. I know the teachers will miss you, as will I. But, we can't hold you back anymore. As much as we will miss you, you're going to college, or into the work era."

He sniffled before continuing. "Now before I start to ball my eyes out, let name everyone..." He said as he wiped a tear. "Cameron Anen, Sammie Atii, Sora Bilva, Cameron Buka, Alex Toris" and he went on.

I scanned the crowed until I heard Dayton's name. "Dayton Jordan Willis" Everyone clapped. He stood up and took a bow then sat down again.

"Kyabele Oklee Winters" Everyone clapped. I stood up, took a bow then sat down. "Klaribele Liza Cya" everyone called as she stood up, took a bow then sat down.

I listened as many other names got called. Once they finished everyone clapped. The master choir and regular choir all stood up.

Mr.Lockson stood up and walked to the front of the stage. "Master choir and regular choir has one last thing" he said then stepped to the side. We all stood up and started.

"Time has slipped away and we're moving on. Choices to be made. We must go on. Another stage of life has come and gone. God only knows what we may become."

"We won't forget the friends and memories we've made. Though this chapter of our life is almost through. Lord please guide us as we go our separate ways."

"Let us shine for you. May we shine for you. There's no need to fear. Moving on. God is always near as we move on. And as we spread our wings and start to fly."

"The feelings bittersweet because it hurts to say goodbye. We won't forget the friends and memories we've made. Though this chapter of our life is almost through."

"Lord please guide us as we go our separate ways. Let us shine for you. May we shine for you. And as we go out on our own."

Everyone clapped as we took the final bow. We looked over at the principal. "Go ahead" he laughed. We all looked at the crowd and threw our caps up. Everyone clapped, laughed and wiped their tears away.

We all walked off the stage and met with our families. Aunt Nyx set King down and he ran to me yelling Momma. I picked him up and hugged him.

"Congratulations Kyabele" a man from behind me said. That wasn't just a man, it was one of the most important people to me. I whirled around and his eyes locked with me.

My jaw fell open and he pulled me into a hug. Tears of happiness fell. We pulled away. "Dad! How are you here?!" I asked in surprise.

"My baby is graduating from college, I won't ever miss that" he said. We hugged again. As we pulled away a lady with dark brown hair and a baby about Kings age with dark brown hair but with Kings face walked over.

"Oh hunny, your so grown up. You already have a child, your going to college. Your-" I stopped him there. "Dad, we need to talk alone..." I said.

He nodded and we walked out side and around the school. "Go ahead." He said. "King is not my baby" I said. "Then why does he call you momma?" He asked confused.

"He is yours and moms, but mom said if I didn't take care of him she was going to abort him. I said I would and now mom is in prison, all three boys and Kayla are in Norway, Kaeley is at a military camp, I was raising two Kids, but one died, and now I am just raising King." I said.

"What do you mean by your mom is in prison and you were raising two kids?" He asked. "Mom lost it and ended up there. King had a twin sister, but she died from choking" I said.

He nodded. He had no words. "I am taking King back, no buts, he is my child and your going to college in another country." He said. "What?! No! Not even!" I said.

"Yes, end of discussion! Now hand him over!" He said. "No! Not until I leave for college!" I said with anger in my voice.

"Fine" he said before walking away. I put him in my car and buckled him up then drove home. I won't just let my father take the child that I raised away. I pulled up in the driveway and went in with King. I got in and saw everyone celebrating. All my family was there, including my dad, that girl and that baby.

I ran into my room and set King on my bed. I turned my laptop on and looked up a bunch of stuff. Finally I got my answers. I grabbed my phone and dialed the number. They answered. It was a lawyer for adoption. She told me to download everything she sent me and I did. I printed the paper I needed and waited.

I saw my dad's car drive way and I ran downstairs with King following. I saw my aunt Nyx and Uncle Samuel. I pulled them up to my room and shut the door after King walked in. I told them everything and they filled the paper out.

They will have King until I get out of College. I know it is like my dad, but I will come here every break, and over summers. My dad, I have no idea where he lives or where he will be in 4 years. After Nyx and Samuel left I put King to bed, and facetimed with Martinus. He graduated today as well. Him and Marcus weren't going to College, instead they were going to go worldwide.

I started packing up for my world tour while on the phone with him. I leave tomorrow afternoon. We talked until the sun rose then fell asleep while on the phone.
