Clara-
I ran through the white tiled hallway with the woman who had been answering my questions.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
She opened one of the closed doors. She locked it and put a wooden plank. We were in another hallway. It looked almost exactly the same, but it was more appealing to the eyes. The walls were the same cream color, but they had wooden bottoms and flower print along the top. Paintings of nature scenes were also hung up in even increments, The floor tiles were whiter. Most of the doors looked more friendly. They were made of oak wood and most of them were open.
Panting, the woman said, "We are going to crown you. We are in the residential sector right now. We need to get to the royal sector."
She ran down the halls and I followed her. Through the open doors, I could see kitchens, living rooms, or offices, just as she said. They all looked like nice apartments. If this was where normal people lived, I couldn't wait to see where I lived.
She finally stopped at a pair of double doors. They looked a lot like the doors from the alley, except they were plated in gold. The woman murmured something and the doors opened.
I stared in awe at the giant room. The ceiling was domed with the highest point being about thirty feet higher than the hallway ceiling. Along the walls were bookshelves. In the center of the room were two thrones. The bigger one had a tiara on it. It was bigger than the one that was on my head right now. It had emeralds on the golden frame. A scepter was resting against it. It was gold like the tiara and was shaped like a tree branch, thin, and had an emerald on the tip. The other throne had nothing else on it. It had a plastic sheet over it.
The woman who had brought me here turned to me. "You should be safe here," she said.
"Should be safe? Plus, how can I trust you? I don't even know your name," I replied.
"I'm Evangeline," she paused, "your aunt."
I tapped my foot and raised an eyebrow. "Aunt?"
"Yes. Feel free to call me 'Aunt' or 'Auntie,' but your brother just calls me Evangeline."
"Brother?" I felt like a kindergartner learning something for the first time.
Evangeline, my aunt, stepped toward me, but I took a step backwards. "Yes, Clara, you have a twin brother. His name is Oliver Idan."
"Him. We have different last names. I haven't seen him before today. How can that be possible?"
My aunt stepped toward the bigger throne. She moved the tiara and scepter and motioned for me to sit. "Let me explain," she said. I sat on the surprisingly comfortable chair. "Your father, Mr Lexon, took you. He wanted you to have nothing to do with this. Oliver stayed here in the kingdom with your mother, Rose Idan."
My eyes widened. "My mother? Where is she?"
Evangeline gulped. "She's... dead. She died four years after you and your father left," she said.
Before I could say something else, or really in depth process what she had just said, there was a banging on the doors.
"You know how to use most of your powers, right?" my aunt asked me.
I answered with, "I can make plants grow and make a vine and twig cage."
"Well, just use this." Evangeline handed me the scepter. "Just point it at something, but only if you absolutely need to."
I accepted the scepter and Evangeline left me. She disappeared in a flash of gold and green. Shortly after, the doors busted open. So much for safe, I thought.
Something came through the doorway. It looked a lot like Ms. Dodson. They both had the leathery monsterous look. It was holding something. No someone. It was Nathan.
The monster advanced and threw Nathan across the room. He was all beat up.
"What are you? What do you want?" I raised the scepter to him.
I am a ignem dæmonium or 'fire demon' in Latin, it said in my head. We are here to collect all four queens and take over the seasons.
"You can't. You won't," I said. I felt my knees shaking. Hopefully the tights hid it a bit.
The fire demon laughed. A small fire started in the corner of the room. It approached Nathan with a fire on the tip of her forefinger. He pointed his finger at him. A fire started just to the left of Nathan's head.
"Don't touch him!" I yelled. I pointed the scepter at the demon. A swirl of yellowish powder filled the air: pollen. It swirled into the shape of a tornado. It surrounded the ignem dæmonium. The monster screamed and disappeared, still very much alive.
I ran over to Nathan. He tried to smile. His face was all bruised. "I guess you were right," he said. I laughed.
"I'll see if I can find something to help you," I said.
"No, Clara, no. I'll manage. You have a kingdom to protect and winter is almost over."
I sighed and sat next to him, exhausted. Before long, I was asleep.
A/N: New update by Amber. Not very long, but it was kinda exciting, I guess. I don't know what I'm talking about, but yeah. Enjoy the update!
