Valerie's POV

I get to school early this morning. What a surprise. (Note the sarcasm). Walking through the gates I begin to prepare for the snickering and rumoring that will be going on. A voice calling my name breaks me away from my thoughts. "Val! Valerie!" I turned to look and saw Niall waving like a maniac. I chuckled and went and sat next to him under a tree in the yard. People stared open mouthed but I just smiled and ignored them. Niall turned to face me. "So, How are you?" He asked, clearly still concerned about yesterday. I nodded and gave him a reassuring smile. "I'm much better. Thank you so much for helping me. You didn't have to give up your image for me. It really means a lot." I said. He shook his head. "No worries, I'd do anything for a friend." My eyes widened. "Friend?" I asked, surprised. He nodded and chuckled. "Yes, Val, I consider you my friend." He smiled a heartwarming smile and his eyes glistened. For once I felt loved, like I actually meant something to someone. It gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Our eyes locked and I was mesmerised, his deep blue irises represented a river, flowing from dark, luscious shades of blue to a bright green. They were beautiful. I noticed that I was staring and quickly looked away, feeling a blush creep up to my cheeks. Niall chuckled. I looked up at him and then his face turned hard and he looked at me apologetically. "I am really sorry about Harry. You see, he has an image to keep up and he doesn't wanna lose it, you know?" I shook my head. "Niall, everyone has an image, but that doesn't mean they have to make someone Else's life hell." I pointed out. Niall nodded and looked at me. "I completely understand." He looked upset. I squeezed his hand slightly. "Thank you for being here when no one else was." He smiled and pulled me up from my seat and we walked to class hand in hand. I saw Harry glance over at Niall and I, his eyes flickering down to our entwined hands. I watched him closely and for a moment I saw a shimmer of something on his face. Anger? Jealousy? I shrugged it off and sat next to Niall.

Harry's POV

I looked around the room and spotted Niall walking into the room. He was walking in with a girl...WAIT! Is that Valerie??!! I balled my fists up as I felt the anger seep through me. My eyes flickered down to their hands. They were laced together. Wait, why do I care? I don't like Valerie. I couldn't care less who she hooks up with...could I? I shrugged it off and tried to concentrate. Class went on forever but the bell finally rang and I sprinted out and raced to Music. It was my favourite subject and the only one I was actually good at. I took my seat just as Mrs. Lincoln walked in. She sat down and Valerie charged through the door. "Sorry Mrs. Lincoln!" She panted. She rushed to her seat and sat down, pulling out her text books.

"Class, I have an assignment for you. You will work in pairs to create a song. You will write your own melody and lyrics. The partners are: Emily and Louis, Vanessa and Niall, Isha and Zayn, Lauren and Liam, Kate and Zack, Valerie and Harry and....." The teacher continued assigning partners while Valerie and I both sat there, frozen, mouths wide open.  I can't believe it! Just my luck.

"Now, you have three weeks to do this assignment. You are to get together after school as I will not be giving you time in class. Any questions?" She asked. No one put their hands up so the teacher made everyone get together and start to plan out their project. I walked towards Valerie and she looked pretty disappointed, was I really that bad? I smiled at her and sat down next to her. She took out her workbook and spoke after a few minutes. "So, what are we gonna do?" She asked. I shrugged. "Do you know how to sing or write songs?" I asked, remembering her lyrics. She nodded. "I've written a few songs but I don't think they are that good." She looked down and I was about to protest when I remembered that she didn't know I read her notes that time. I nodded and stayed quiet, the silence too awkward to bear.  Class ended and we exchanged numbers. "Uhh, so I guess I'll text you so we can organise our project?" She said. I nodded replying with a simple sure before turning round and walking away, letting out a deep breath I never knew I was holding in. That was too awkward, but I couldn't shake the feeling of excitement and the butterflies in my stomach at getting to see her out of school hours. Is that normal?

Valerie's POV

That was way, way too awkward! Now I have to see him after school, great! Just my luck. Walking to the cafeteria, I noticed the feeling of nervousness in my stomach, it was lurching with butterflies. Why? I shook it off and got my lunch. I was parched and I dug into my food, not noticing anything around me. I only looked up when I heard a soft chuckle in front of me. I met eyes with Niall, sitting across from me. I blushed and wiped my mouth with my napkin. "Hey." I said, a little embarrassed. He smiled, his blue irises glistening. 'Hi!" He chirped. "We have class together next. I'm gonna sit with you if that's OK." I nodded replying with a simple that's fine. We both dug into our food, laughing and talking about random things before walking to our lockers. I loved hanging out with Niall. He was so sweet. I grabbed his hand and walked into class. The same look on Harry's face when he saw us together holding hands. This was getting weird. I made a mental note to ask him about that later. I sat down and took out my textbooks as did Niall. It was a boring lesson so we spent time doodling and writing notes to each other. The teacher looked over at us a few times because we were being too loud. We sobered up and took a few notes to make it look as though we were listening. I looked around the room and noticed Harry staring, a jealous look on his face. I poked Niall and asked him what was up Harry's butt. He shrugged and said he would ask him later. I forgot the matter and gathered my books as the bell rang.

Niall's POV

Val nudged me. "Whats wrong with Harry?" she asked. I looked at Harry and noticed an angry and jealous face, he was staring right at us. Weird. I shrugged. "No idea, but I'll ask him later, okay?" I said. She nodded and began gathering her books for the end of class. I said goodbye and ran to catch up to Harry as we were walking home together. "Hey! Harry, wait up!" I yelled, earning myself a few annoyed looks from passers-by. I ignored them and ran up to Harry. He looked at me, and smiled, but it did not reach his eyes. "Haz, whats wrong?" I asked. He shrugged. We were best friends and we told each other everything. "I don't know Nialler, I...It's weird, ever since that thing happened with Valerie, I have had this feeling every time I talk to her, and I feel jealous when I see her with you. I don't understand it." He said. I nodded, a smirk tugging at my lips. "I think you have a slight case of the love bug." I chuckled. He shook his head. "It can't be, I hate her, always have, always will." I knew he was thinking about it, I could see it in his eyes. The suspense was killing him. We reached his house and walked in, being greeted by his sister Gemma. We took our books upstairs and began to do our homework, I planned on bugging him about Val later...
