Avril POV:

I was at a party with my friend Alex. This wasn't the type I was expecting. There was smoke in the air and the smell of pot was making me sick. It was too cold outside to leave and I couldn't find Alex or my coat. People were bumping into me and I felt unsafe. I'm pretty tough but I was tired and I didn't have the energy to fight anyone, even if I had to. I looked all over for Alex. I wanted to leave this dingy place. I asked around once I gave up looking for him on my own.
"Yeah, Alex left with this blonde chick. He looked like he wouldn't be coming back, he was so drunk too." This guy said.
Great. My ride left and my house was 30 miles from this place.
I decided to ask around for someone. Find a few decent people, how hard could it be? Really fucking hard. I called Alex and he said he would be at this bridge in 35 minutes.
I kept checking my phone and watched the time change. 20 minutes passed. 30. 40. Eventually, it had been almost an hour and a half since he was supposed to be here. I didn't even know my way home. Fuck. I walked back to the garage building the party was held and kept looking around. I couldn't find anyone I knew sober. I couldn't drive them home since I left my license at home. My phone was dead, I had no money, and no way home. This really sucks. I sat in the corner with my head in my knees. I started to cry and no one noticed. I brought my head up and wiped my eyes. I looked around saw a guy playing guitar behind a crowd of people. He seemed nice and he looked over at me. I still had tears in my eyes and my hair was a mess.
"Are you okay?" He asked
"Are you normal?"
"I think so."
I stood up and walked over to him.
"I don't know who you are, but I'm with you." I said.
"What happened?" He asked.
"I've got no money, my phone's dead and no ride."
"I'm sorry about that. I'm Evan, by the way."
"Avril." I said
We spent the rest of the night talking and he drove me home.
"Avril, see you around maybe?" He said
"Yeah, sure. Thanks for the ride by the way."
"No problem."

That was the night I met Evan Taubenfeld. That was the night I met the first guy I fell desperately in love with.
