Chapter 43

Luna POV

"The school is burning." I say, turning to Ayato and stomping on his foot to wake him up.

He yelps and glares at me before sniffing the air.

"Shit." He dashes for the door and pulls the fire alarm.

"Everyone out! Now!"

The whole school soon starts screaming and running for the doors, pouring out and trampling over each other to try and escape.

A flash of silver hair catches my attention but it's just a blonde who's running for the door holding the hand of her brunette boyfriend.

I'd already heard the rumors about Irene and Laito breaking up but no one has seen her or Shin since then.

Back to the present though, I started hearing screams from some of the classrooms and flames inside the rooms.

I start dashing towards them with Ayato beside me.

"Ayato, there's people in here!" I yell over the shouts and he kicks the door down, marveling at himself as I pull the people out and get them to the exit.

"I saved those people, how do you like me now~?" He asks with a smug smirk.

I chuckle and kiss his cheek,"Well done~"

He grins and I pull him off again, making him do all the work and break down the doors and I pull people out as he continues to brag.

We soon come across an open room with someone crying inside, Rachel is beside them and trying to console the person whom I realise is Shu.

"What's wrong?!"

I run over with Ayato who has turned stone faced as he picks up Shu in his arms.

"He has a phobia of fire." He says and walks out the room as Rachel and I run after him.

We get him to the limo and Rachel stays with him inside at a safe distance away from the school and helps him to sleep.

"Don't go back in there, Luna!" Rachel says, grabbing my wrist tightly.

"I need to find the others and let them know we're here." I reply and pull my wrist free, feeling Ayato take hold of my other hand and interlace our fingers.

I smile at him as we race off into the building again to find everyone else.

Irene POV

I can't move....Why can't I move....Ah yes....I remember....my siblings....they have me, don't they...? I'm such an idiot... I fell for it, hook, line and sinker.

Of course Laito was with that bitch, he'd never have betrayed me so easily....but no, I had to be an idiot and blame him without thinking.

"Irene? That is your name, isn't it?" A deep baritone voice sounds close to my ear. My body turns on its own accord to face him but strong hands clamp down on my shoulders, stopping me.

"Don't. I'm Carla, Shin's brother. He told me what you did for him after you found him. It's only right I return the favour and help you. Be careful, they'll stop at nothing to get you and your sister back. Choose your moment wisely."

The hands disappear from my shoulders and a soft breeze ruffles my hair as the pinkish white haired vampire joins my siblings in their revelry atop a cliff over looking the burning school.

Screams pierce the air, both of relief, fear and pain. Those that are trapped will soon die from smoke inhalation. It's inevitable...
