Leaving the one you love can be hard, even if you know it's for your own good. Your whole life starts with that person and you just get addicted to their presence, their scent, smile.. And suddenly, they vanish. Get wrenched from your life and you're left to deal with it. Alone, of course.
"Oh, Mark.."
I was lying on bed in Anna's guest room. I locked myself in so no one can try to make me feel better.
Maybe I should have fought for him. For us. Most important, for our baby. I should either go back to him or get over him.
I took out my phone.
"Hello?" a strong masculant voice answered.
"Dr. Avidan? Lena Jepsen speaking."
"Oh, Lena, it's nice to hear your voice."
"I was wondering if we could meet somewhere, of course if you're not busy. Regarding the help I promissed you."
"Of course we can. When?"
"I don't know, in an hour, Sax?"
"I'll see you there."
He laughed and hung up.
I took off my black dress and took a shower. I washed off every little memory of Mark I ever had on my body.
I stood in front of the mirror and touched my lips. Pictures appeared again.
His soft, husky voice.
"Your skin is so soft.."
Every word he ever said echoed in my head causing my heart to skip a beat.
"Lena?"
Reality stroke again.
"Yes?"
"Are you okay? James and I are ordering takeout. Do you want to eat with us?"
Yes, I want to see you two crawling over eachother while I'm getting a divorce.
"No, thanks. I'm leaving anyway."
"Where? Don't tell me you're going to see him!"
I opened the door and faced her.
"No, Anna. My marriage is over, I have no inntensions towards seeing Mark. But I know I'll have to, I'm carrying his baby as you can see."
She nodded.
"I'm going to see dr. Avidan about that donation."
She nodded.
"You look beautiful."
"Thank you."
I smiled lightely and left.
Dr. Avidan was sitting at a table when I arrived. He stood up and extended his hand.
"Dr. Avidan."
He kissed my palm and sat.
"Lena, beautiful as always. There is no need to adress me so formally. Ethan, just Ethan."
I nodded.
"Ethan."
I ordered coffee.
"I called you because I managed to organize a fund raiser for your department."
He looked thrilled.
"That's great!"
I nodded.
"Next Friday, a week from now. At the hotel "Vivo". I didn't make the invitations yet, but when I do, I'll bring you yours."
He smiled.
