Writer's POV:
After all the reunions were done once they got home, Jewel apologised to her mother who forgave her instantly before pulling her into a hug. Being apart from her daughter did something to Regina and with the whole town still against her, it was nice having someone other than Henry on her side.
But for Jewel, it wasn't all happy for her. She was still crushed with what happened back in the Enchanted Forest with Hook and cried on her mother's shoulder for what seemed like hours. Even though Regina didn't exactly approve of Hook, she understood her daughter's pain and just held her close whilst she cried out everything she had felt whilst being in back in the forest.
Regina placed a hot cup of cocoa in front of her daughter once she had finished crying and Jewel thanked her before taking a sip. She moaned at the taste, feeling the familiar warmth that ran through her veins, after drinking water with bugs in it for the past few weeks, she was thankful to be drinking something a lot better.
"So, what have I missed?" asked Jewel setting her cup down.
"Other than Charming pretending to be the Sherrif Prince and turning the whole town including Henry against me, nothing," Regina asked taking a sip of her cocoa.
"Wait, he turned the whole town against you?"
Regina nodded. "They still don't trust me after the whole curse thing-"
"They do know it wasn't just you who cast the curse right?" Jewel asked interrupting her but smiled apologetically once Regina gave her the famous 'don't interrupt me' look. "Sorry"
"Anyway," Continued Regina brushing her hair out of her face. "He didn't believe that I'm trying to change, he thinks I'm just saying it because I don't have my magic back fully. He think's it's all a trick until I get my magic back and then I'll go back to the Evil Queen."
"And I'll go back to being the Dark Princess" Finished Jewel. "He does know I still have my magic right?"
Regina shrugged. "Probably. Either way, the town doesn't trust us. We're just villains to them"
"Well that explains how Emma and Mary Marget pulled Henry away from us when we got back" Said Jewel remembering how Henry was practically ripped from her embrace by Emma and they hadn't seen him since.
"I haven't really seen Henry since you left, Charming wouldn't let me"
"He can't do that!" Exclaimed Jewel. "You're his mother!"
"By a piece of paper" Point out Regina taking a sip of her drink. "Emma is his real mother which makes Charming his real family"
"So what? All Emma has done is bring him into the world, you raised him"
"Apparently that doesn't matter. I am, after all, the Evil Queen"
Jewel sighed and took a sip of her drink. "That shouldn't matter...you're so much more than that and I wish people would just see it" She played with her cup. "As much as I want to get revenge on the Charmings, we need to show the town that we want to change. I can't keep living like this"
"Me either" Regina stood up and faced the window that was looking out towards their front garden. "But it's going to be tricky..."
"I'll have to use my magic for good" Jewel made a face.
Regina faced her and smiled. "I'm sure you'll manage...you won't be the only one using magic for good. I will be too when it fully comes back"
"All I know is how to use dark magic" Sighed Jewel placing her now empty cup in the sink. "Curse Gold for making me this powerful."
Flashback to the Enchanted Forest. Jewel's first magic lesson with Rumple:
Jewel was stood outside her castle wearing a dark blue dress that reached her knees. Her hair was pinned up in an elegant up-do so it wouldn't get in the way of her using magic properly for the first time. Regina sat on a bench watching, ready to step in in case something went wrong. Black Knights walked the grounds keeping an eye out for anything suspicious.
Rumple circled Jewel like an animal would do with its prey. "Now Jewel, we're going to start off by doing something simple. It will be the first thing you would do if you are ever attacked and it took your mother a long time to do it. Let's hope that you're not the same"
Regina rolled her eyes. "Does she have to learn defensive skills now? I'm not going to let anyone attack her"
"With all due respect your Majesty, but who's the teacher here?" Rumple asked shutting Regina up. "Exactly. And you're not going to be around to protect her forever."
"It's okay mum, I can handle it" Jewel reassured her mother but at the same time she was thinking 'I hope'
Rumple showed her how to create the fireball and told her to let the magic run through her veins and focus on making a fireball before it left her fingertips. She let the familiar feeling of warmth run through her veins and imagined a fireball in her hand before it let her fingertips. To her surprise, it would and there was a fireball in glowing brightly in her hand.
"I did it! I did it!" She squealed. "Mum look, I did it!"
Regina smiled a proud smile. "I can see that dear, well done"
It was then, Rumple knew exactly who he was dealing with and grinned. Oh, this is going to be fun.
END OF FLASHBACK
"Are you going to Grannies welcome back party tonight?" Regina asked Jewel snapping her out of her thoughts.
"I wasn't aware that I was invited"
"Emma invited me, she actually believes that I want to change," Regina explained fixing her coat. "So yes, you're invited"
"What time does it start?"
"7"
Jewel glanced at the time and saw she had an hour before it began. She quickly nodded and headed for the stairs. "Just give me a chance to shower! I stink!"
Regina chuckled at her daughter before walking to the kitchen to make a meal for the party. She hoped after tonight everyone will see that she's willing to change but little did she know, that the problems for her and Jewel were only beginning.
