Monroe, Sterling, Murphy, Finn, Bellamy and I all walk together in almost complete silence as we trek through the forest in the early afternoon sunlight. At some point, I fell back from walking up front with Finn and Murphy and fell into stride next to Bellamy. Throughout the morning, I could feel him constantly looking down at me to make sure that I'm doing okay, being his overprotective self. If it were anyone else, I probably would roll my eyes or maybe even hit them and say something sarcastic, but with Bellamy being the one looking out for me, it makes me feel light and all fluffy on this inside and safe.
We walk together, keeping each other's pace without much trouble. I have both my gun and my bow strapped over my shoulders so I can walk with both of my hands free and at my sides. Bellamy has his gun strapped over his shoulder as well but keeps it in at least one of his hands at all times. He mostly keeps it in the hand that is not next to me, meaning that everyone else in a while, our free hands would brush up against each other, reassuring that we are both here for each other, but we never hold hands, knowing that it would just waste time if we needed to draw our weapons.
"Alright, Murphy. Where to know?" Bellamy asks, breaking the silence between the sic of us. Murphy turn around to face us and holds up his still tied hands. "What do you say we lose these first, huh?" He asks, causing me to roll my eyes. This is like the fifth time he's asked since the sun came up, and it's kinda starting to annoy me. "Bellamy states, sounding as agitated as I fell." Again." He adds causing Murphy to roll his eyes. "Hey, if we get attacked out here, I have to defend myself with." Murphy fires back and everyone stops walking as Murphy raises his voice slightly. "I don't care." Bellamy answers, just as fired up as Murphy, and I watch as Finn pulls the cable cutter from his pack and walks over to us. WIthout saying a word, he cuts Murphy's wrists free and turns around and starts walking. "Thank you." Murphy says, and Bellamy glares at hie before chasing after Finn.
Murphy glances to me and raises his eyebrows. "You're not gonna pummel me?" He asks, arrogance clear in his voice. I keep my face as calm and collected as I can as I shrug my shoulders. "The day's still young." I say, slinging the gun from my shoulder and holding it tightly in both hands, and leave Murphy behind as I follow Bellamy and Finn.
"Yeah, he's the only one who's seen where the Grounders keep their prisoners." I hear Bellamy argue to Finn and I catch up to walk right behind them. "Then we probably shouldn't let him be defenseless out here." Finn says, and Bellamy stops walking as he walks faster. "We can handle Murphy." Finn says and storms off into the forest as Murphy, Monroe and sterling catch up to us. "You better hope so." Bellamy mumbles as we begin walking next to each other again.
"He's right. If the Grounders attack and kill Murphy, we won't know how to get to the their prison camp." I say, looking up at Bellamy's still bloodied and beat up face. "I know, but that doesn't mean I have to like it." He says begrudgingly, causing me to let out a small laugh. "Murphy is the last thing we need to be worrying about right now." I say as loud footsteps come up behind us. "Thanks, Princess. So do I get a gun now?" He asks, and Bellamy just shoves him to walk in front of us as I glare at his back for calling me Princess. "If I shoot him in the back of the knee, how pissed do you think Finn would be?" I ask, raising my gun to take aim at Murphy. Bellamy cracks a smile as he drops one hand from his gun, and I do the same. We continue to walk in silence, our hands brushing together slightly as they rest by our sides.
There's barely any conversation between our group as we trek further into the forest. It's mid afternoon when Murphy all but tackles Bellamy and I to the ground. "Everybody down, down. Get down." He whisper-yells, and I don't have time to glare at him as the voices of Grounders drift into my ears. "This is it." Murphy whispers from next to me, and I keep in my surprised that Murphy actually kept to his word. "Told you I'd find it." Murphy tells Bellamy smugly, and we all just ignore him and look at the Grounder camp. I put the scope of my gun up to my eye and start looking for any signs of the other members of the Hundred. "I see nothing but Grounders." Bellamy says, and my heart sinks down to my toes. "Our people aren't here." I say, letting defeat and sadness take over my voice as I lower the scope from my eye. Bellamy does the same, taking my hand in his larger one and giving it a reassuring squeeze.
