I have literally not left Engineering since sending Emerson back to Mount Weather. Bellamy has checked in two or three times in the past twelve hours, but it hasn't been enough to ease my nerves.
My leg bounces as Bellamy is once again late with check in. Raven in working on my mechanical stuff behind me on the clear board, and I am gripping the receiver tightly in my hand, thinking of all the ways I'm gonna kill Bellamy for making me this anxious when I see him again.
"Has he checked in yet?"
I turn around and greet Clarke with a nervous face and a shake of my head. "Worried someone's gonna take a shot at you inside the Ark?" Raven ask, looking at the Grounder behind Clarke. Clarke gives me an annoyed look as Raven turns back to her board before turning to the Grounder. "Wait outside."
"Lexa's orders." Clarke says, clearly annoyed by Raven's comment. "How come Carter doesn't have one?" Raven asks without taking her eyes from the board while I roll mine. "Probably because she knows that Carter won't be leaving this room." Clarke says with a small smile my way. I roll my eyes again and turn back to the radio, my leg bouncing again.
"He's late. What if something happened to him?" I say, causing Raven to sigh. "For the thousandth time, Bellamy will be just fine."
There's a small pause as I begin to stare at the radio, hoping that somehow if I focus on it hard enough, Bellamy's radio senses will tingle, letting him now that I'm seriously beginning to get pissed off.
"You've been busy. Why are you focusing on the dam?" Clarke asks, but I ignore her sassy tone as I continue to try and reach out telepathically with Bellamy. My focus is broken when a tone generator sounds. "How many of these have you made?" Clarke asks, and I wince, knowing she won't be happy with Raven's answer.
"Only two so far, but..." Clarke cuts off the mechanic. "Two? That's not enough. There'll be Reapers everywhere." She says, and I sigh, knowing Raven won't take the accusation in Clarke's voice very well.
"Hi-frequency tone generators don't grow on trees, Clarke." Raven says, raising her voice. "Wick is scrounging for parts."
"Raven, I am about to leave for Tondc where Lexa and the heads of all twelve Grounder clans are waiting for me to tell them we're a go. Only, we're not a go, because they still have acid fog, and we only have two tone generators." Clarke says, getting more and more emotional with each word.
"Hey," I say, speaking up and causing both girls to turn and look at me. "We'll be ready."
The radio beeps and a familiar voices plays from the radio.
"Ark Station, do you read me?"
I shake my head and mumble a 'finally' before bringing the receiver closer to my mouth.
"Bellamy Blake, I am going to freaking kill you!" I all but yell into the radio. "Nice to hear from you too, Princess."
"Bell, you're late. Every three hours really does mean every three hours." I say as Raven and Clarke stand behind me. Clarke gives me a pointed shove in the shoulder, causing me to roll my eyes. "Have you found the source of the acid fog?" I ask, hoping that there will be good news.
"No, that's gonna have to wait." Bellamy says, and Clarke takes the receiver from my hand. "No. Nothing is more important than that." She says, sounding completely outraged. "Our friends are." Bellamy says as I take the receiver away from Clarke. "They've started taking them from the dorm, one at a time, every few hours."
Raven leans down and puts her hand over mine, pressing down the button. "Taking them where?" She asks. At least she didn't snatch it.
"I don't know." Bellamy replies, causing my shoulders to droop. "We tried to follow them, but they went to a classified level. Maya borrowed the schematics of the vent system from her boss, and we're still trying to find a way in. Anything?" Bellamy must be talking to Maya. "I think I found a path, but it's gonna be tight." I hear an unfamiliar voice speak up in the background. "Here's the walkie Raven asked for and the earbud."
