After having a discussion with the Strike Team leader about when we were leaving, I go to mine and Belly's room, packing my stuff up in my bag. Once done, I walk back to Engineering, cautiously. I really don't want another peek at Raven and Wick. Once I get there, I see Raven storming out with an upset look on her face. "Hey." I call just before she walks past me. She shakes her head slightly before putting on an obviously fake smile. "What's up?" She asks, and I can hear the strain in her voice, but by the look in her eyes, I decide to ignore it. "Uh, I'm coming with you and Wick to the Dam." I say, hiking my bag further up on my back.
She seems surprised. "You're one of our best fighters, you should be up front with Clarke." She says, furrowing her eyebrows. I shrug my shoulders. "My mom thought it would be better to go with you and Wick as backup. Just in case." I say, lying only slightly. She didn't say that, but I didn't want to tell Raven. She opens her mouth to probably protest, but I quickly interrupt her. "I talked to the Strike Team, we leave in twenty." I say before turning on my heel and make my way towards the front gate.
The walk to mount Weather with Raven and Wick was awkward and silent. The Dam looms in front of us after what seems like an eternity of walking. We sneak in through the tunnels, thanks to the map that Clarke drew with the help of Maya. I pull my bow from my back as Wick, Raven and I come into the turbine room. I hear a radio go off and notch an arrow as I lean over the railing as Raven and Wick quietly go down the stairs. I see a person in a hazmat suit and don't even hesitate to let the arrow fly, hitting him right in the chest. "Go!" I whisper-yell to Raven and WIck, and they start running to the furthest turbine. I quickly run down the stairs after them, my bow still in my hand.
Wick and Raven quickly set to work on mounting the hydrazine bombs to the bottoms of the turbines. They work in almost complete, tense silence. I keep my eyes moving on the level above us, they stairs behind us, and the hallway on the other side of us. "Three down two to go. As soon as I'm done, you set the dentenators." I hear Raven say, her voice focused and emotionless. I've learned that she gets that way when she's concentrating on her work. "I know the plan, Raven. It's my plan." Wick snaps back, causing me to raise my eyebrows without turning to look at the two.
There's a small pause of silence before I hear Raven sigh. "Fine/ Jeez, you can tell me a dam joke already." Raven says, causing me to roll my eyes. Silence. "Get it? Dam joke?" I turn to watch Wick sigh in exasperation. "I got it." He says, fiddling with one of the bombs. "Your jokes are terrible."
I sigh in exasperation before turning back to the hallway to keep watch for Mountain Men. "They are not." Raven says, sounding slightly offended. "They are." Wick says back, sounding completely done with this conversation, same as me. "Now, concentrate. We don't have all day." Wick says, sounding almost as emotionless as Raven. "I think I liked you better before we had sex."
My eyes widen at her statement, and I turn around to see Wick slightly glaring at her. "Right back at ya." I purse my lips at his response. What the hell happened? "They can't leave if you push them away first, right?" Raven responds with silence. "How's that working out for you so far?"
I clear my throat, and Wick turns to me as if just realizing that I can hear every word that they are saying. "Maybe you guys should talk about this later when the fate of our friends aren't resting in our hands..." I say, trailing off towards the end as I try not to sound as uncomfortable I feel. "I'll get started on number five." Wick says, standing up and walking away from Raven and I.
I sigh before turning back to taking watch when a woman's voice sounds from a radio. "Where did that come from?" Wick asks as I quickly notch another arrow. "Shut up and keep your eyes open." I whisper back to him, jogging to get in front of him. Wick looks like a strong guy, but he seems to have almost no experience with fighting, on the Ground or up in space.
