Livius was livid. Never had he ever been humiliated like this..
"What the hell were they thinking telling me I made a wrong choice?!? I know what the hell I want and that is to make Nike my wife and that's final!" he muttered angrily to himself.
He stormed into his chamber and Nike almost jumped out of her skin upon hearing the doors slamming open.
"Oh god you scared me!"
"Sorry." he replied curtly as he took off his royal robe and threw it carelessly onto the chair of the dressing mirror.
"Anything wrong?" Nike asked, concern lacing her voice.
"Oracles gave me a stupid message from God." Livius got to the point.
He didn't see why he should be hiding it from his wife. He made a promise to be faithful to her and he will be damn sure to keep his word...
"F-f-fr-from G-g-god???" Nike asked in disbelief. "Are-are you sure???"
"Does it sound like I stuttered?" Livius asked with an an annoyed expression.
"N-n-no! I mean it's been so so long since God decided to send a message to any oracles! It must have been a serious one!"
"No it's a stupid one." Livius cut his wife off.
"In what sense?"
"God said he has a soulmate prepared for me."
Nike's eyes widened in surprised at her husband's words before they softened.
"So... you feel anything?"
"Huh? What kind of nonsense is that? Of course I don't feel anything for this girl!"
"But... you haven't even met her yet..."
"I don't need to. I know full well where my feelings lie." Livius's voice dropped to a whisper as he approached his wife, slowly unbuttoning his dress shirt.
When he finally stopped before her, he caressed her face before nearing his lips to hers, the first step in a passionate night with his wife...

With light brown hair and equally light violet eyes, the 17 year old ran excitedly towards the field full of beautiful lilies, daises, sunflowers, tulips and other assortment of florals...
"I hope you like it." Kei, a guy with spiky blackish bluish hair and 20 years of age, smiles fondly at the pretty girl flitting like a butterfly from flower to flower.
The girl just nodded in response, giving a wide grin to Kei, before running towards him and throwing herself into his chest, hugging him tightly around the waist.
Kei blushed a light pink as he held the girl's shoulders, trying to push her off him with minimal strength.
"Come on Amari! We're not children anymore to be doing this!" Kei spluttered in embarrassment.
Amari pulled away quickly, a blush also covering her cheek when she realised her actions..
"It-it's okay Amari.. I wasn't angry. I was just surprised that's all." Kei spoke again in a soft voice as he ruffled her brown hair.
Amari gave him a bright smile before turning and running back to play with the butterflies..
"You can't hold on to her forever." Kei's father, who is actually his comrade, spoke from behind him.
He is a man in his late fifties with greying hair...
"I... know..." Kei answered without turning around to face him.
"You have to let her explore the world.. Beginning with the capital first..."
"But if I do that she will be found by the king straight away! I can't let that happen!"
"And why not?"
"Because she's not ready for the king! I'm sure you know what King Livius is like!"
"Kei..." the old man sighed. "For 17 years I've raised Amari when she was given to us partners by God..."
"I know Hiru. I remembered even though I was only 3 years old back then..."
"Yes. Surely you remember what our goals are?"
"Yes. I know them fully well Hiru. To pretend to be humans and raise Amari here as my foster sister..."
"And to also make sure she meets her soulmate once she reaches 18..."
"But her birthday has not pass yet!"
"It will be soon."
"..."
"That's why you got partnered with an older angel. You were ready to take on an important mission but God foresaw you will be reluctant to do what you have to do when the time comes..."
"Why can't she be my soulmate instead.." Kei whispered, his eyes never wavering from Amari who was oblivious..
"Kei... You know we don't ever question God's motives."
"I have to! Every night I ask myself and God the same question! But he never answers me!" Kei replied with a clenched fist.
"Kei, listen to me. Tomorrow, I am bringing Amari to the capital. I want her to experience what it is like to socialise with people in the city too. She's too reserved for her own good."
"No. Not yet."
"Kei!"
"King Livius will break her! I want to prepare Amari! Give her some pep talk or something!"
"Don't come up with lame excuses Kei. I am your senior angel in rank and what I say is final." Hiru spoke firmly as he turned around to walk away from the field.
