The World Is Still Beautiful (King Livius)

Chapter Two

"Do you want this?" Hiru asked Amari who stood in front of a glass display staring at a long pink lace ribbon...

Amari turned beside her to look at her foster father before smiling and shaking her head.

"Never mind I'll get it for you." Kei, who has been wearing an unhappy face since arriving at the capital, replied simply before going into the shop.

Amari opened her mouth in surprise and reached out a hand to grab and stop him but Hiru held her raised arm.

"It's okay Amari. Let him be. If it makes him feel better why not? You want to see a happy face from him instead of that sullen look right?" Hiru asked soothingly.

Amari closed her mouth before nodding her head with a soft smile...

Thirty minutes later, Amari was walking hand in hand with Kei as they followed Hiru closely from behind...

"It really suits you Amari." Kei spoke as he looked at the huge ribbon which he had clipped onto the side of her hair.

There was a soft breeze and the lace ribbon flowing down Amari's long brown hair floated gently in the air...

Amari gave a happy smile as her reply but then she looked down with a frown at their fingers intertwined with each other...

"Oh! Erm... Don't get me wrong! I know I said we're not children anymore but we're holding hands because the capital is especially full of people today and I... don't wanna lose you..." Kei finished softly as Amari bought his answer, giving another smile as her reply.

Suddenly, trumpets blew in the air and before they knew it, Hiru had brought them to the middle of the capital, where a huge and tall podium stood.

"Isn't this a podium used for important announcements??? And the trumpets sounded... Meaning an important event today???" Kei thought to himself when his eyes widened, seeing who came onto the podium...

"Greetings my loyal citizens!" King Livius spoke as he held hands with his wife, Princess Nike. "We have an important announcement to make!"

Princess Nike's cheeks were flushed with excitement as she took over...

"As you all know we have sent out a decree for all of you to gather here today! In three days time is King Livius's and mine's wedding anniversary! So to celebrate this wonderful event, instead of celebrating it just the two of us, we want to throw a grand banquet for all to attend!"

Kei's silver eyes widened in horror as he digested what has been announced...

So that was why Hiru insisted on coming to the capital today! And that was why the capital is so crowded especially today!

Kei let go of Amari's hand in his anger and lurched forward to whirl Hiru around to face him.

"The fuck is the meaning of this Hiru!" Kei lashed furiously, gripping the front of his shirt tightly. "You knew the king will be here and yet you brought Amari along!"

"You said you are well aware of what our goals are." Hiru answered calmly.

"I know I did! But I told you she is not ready for him!"

"Is it? Or is there another reason you refuse to let her go?"

"What?! No! What the hell are you talking about?!?"

"I have a feeling that's not the real reason you don't want to hand Amari over to the king..."

"!"

"Why the silence? If that's the case then let's just leave Amari to King-..."

"No! Over my dead body! King Livius doesn't deserve someone as wonderful and special as Amari!" Kei yelled his lungs out...

He was panting like crazy when King Livius's voice sounded...

"And... who is this Amari?" he asked sharply.

Kei took in his surroundings and realised his shoutings at Hiru has attracted everyone's attention... including Amari, who is now looking at him with an expression of utmost shock.

The silence dragged on before King Livius raised his voice.

"Are you deaf?!"

Kei's eyes unconsciously drifted to Amari. Unfortunately King Livius saw that exchange and his dark violet eyes hardened as he voiced out again.

"Guards. Seize the girl behind him."

The royal guards quickly moved in a flash and Amari was dragged away by them...

"Amari! No!" Kei yelled out in panic but Hiru held him back.

"No Kei! Do not interfere with the works of God! If this is her fate then let it be!"

"Get your fucking hands off me!" Kei gritted his jaw as he started glowing, tapping into his angelic powers...

Hiru stopped the flow of his power by pumping his own angelic essence into Kei since they are in physical contact with each other.

Kei's golden glow diminished and fortunately, no one saw that exchange.

"Let's go." Hiru spoke coldly as he dragged Kei by the arm and starting leading him back to their house...
