The World Is Still Beautiful (King Livius)

Chapter Nine

In this story Nike can only use her powers to conjure rain, not to fight.

Because I wanna keep it simple, hehe.

"Amari!" Nike yelled as she tried to rush to Amari and the others but Neil held her tightly.

"No Princess Nike! It is her and her companions that they're after! You mustn't risk your life!"

"Even Livius is in danger!"

"I know your highness but Livius ordered me years back if anything were to happen, I have to protect you first!"

Nike was powerless against Neil's tight grasp so she relaxed her body as she sobbed for the fate of her husband and the others...

Livius's P.O.V.:

"God damn it Amari! Why the hell did you protect me?!?" I roared as she fell into my arms after Kei pulled out his sword.

"Amari! I'm so sorry..." Kei wept as he reached forward to carry Amari but I pushed him away with one arm, the other arm hugging Amari protectively.

I don't care that my white shirt was staining with blood from her chest...

"You get your dirty hands off her! You murdered her!"

Kei's eyes widened in horror at my words as he knelt to the ground..

"Kei! Get a grip on yourself and help me out here!" Hiru yelled.

By the time he already reached the demon leader but both were taking a protective stance, not doing anything.

"I can't take him on alone! I need you!" Hiru tried calling out to Kei again..

"I love you..." Amari suddenly whispered...

Mine and Kei's eyes widened as we both looked at her, her eyelids half opened...

But she was looking at me when she said those words...

"I love you..." she whispered again, this time her voice was more raspy...

"Amari.." Kei sobbed as he shed more tears...

I felt my eyes filled with tears as I hugged Amari tightly, screaming my lungs out...

"I hurt you! I insulted you! I mistreated you! And you still love me! Why were you even made for me! I already have Nike! Why?!?"

"Because... God told me my name means a miracle from him..." Amari whispered as she coughed, causing a bit of blood to trickle out from the side of her lips..

Kei's eyes widened as he stared at Amari closely...

"Amari... You.. You knew... you're not human??? All along???"

Amari smiled as she shook her head at Kei.

"No... I'm part human... My mother was Queen Sheila and my father was... God himself... The curse that befell me since I was part human was... To lose my voice..."

Sheila??? My mother???

"So.. You... But my mother... was assassinated when you weren't even born!"

"She wasn't assassinated... She just went into hiding because she had an affair with another man..." Kei whispered as he pieced everything together. "And that man was God himself... And that's why the demons are after you... You are God's child..."

"So... My-my half sister is my soulmate..." I stuttered in realisation but Amari's gaping wound was shortening her life fast...

"Yes... I knew all along but father told me I would get my voice back if I just follow his orders... He promised me I can tell everyone once I got my voice back.. I just never knew it would be this way though..." Amari gave a soft smile as she caressed my face.

"I'll have... to go back to father now... He did tell me to come back and visit once I got my voice..."

"But he didn't tell you that would result in you losing your human life!" I yelled as I buried my face in her neck crying.

"You can't do this to me Amari! You may be my half sister but I've always had feelings for you as a lover!"

"You may be my soulmate but... Fate won't allow us to be together for now..." Amari whispered as she reached up to kiss my cheek. "Kei will take care of me in heaven..."

I looked up with resentment at Kei but... I realised I don't have much option...

"Promise me." I said simply.

Kei's eyes hardened as he gave a firm nod, before standing up and turning to fly to Hiru to help him...
