5. At the Lake

It was Shadis, yelling in her face for her to get up. Those who didn't get out of their tents straight away would be soaked with cold lake water.

"GET UP! GET UP NOW! I WILL SEE ALL OF YOU AT THE LAKE IN 5 MINUTES OR THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES!"

He kept shouting, and shouting, and (y/n) just kept trying to ignore him until she no longer could.

(y/n) got out of her tent, herself still wrapped in Levi's blanket. She hadn't bothered to put on her sleepwear. The blanket was too comfortable.

"IT'S FREAKING FIVE IN THE MORNING, SHADIS, YOU LUNATIC!" (y/n) yelled back. Bad move.

"HAVE IT YOUR WAY, (L/N)!" he said as he splashed cold water all over her.

"GODDAMIT! IF I WEREN'T NAKED UNDER HERE YOU'D HAVE A PROBLEM!"

"TRY IT MISSY! LAKE. 5 MINUTES." he said his final words before continuing to wake up a few others.

"Not a morning person, I see?" (y/n) heard someone say from behind her. It was Levi, munching on an apple. He noticed that she had slept naked in his blanket.

(y/n) sighed, calming herself down.

"I can be a morning person. Just not under these circumstances."

Levi scoffed. "I knew you were just a brat. I'd hurry if I were you."

Yeah? Well-, ugh. Darn you.

(y/n) hurried to her now almost dry clothes and put them on.

Shit. Gotta do this quick. In the morning it's light out, unlike last night when no one could see me undress in the dark.

Thankfully, she managed to get dressed without anyone having seen her.

She caught up with Eren and they walked to the lake together.

"I wonder what we'll be doing at the lake..." Eren wondered aloud.

"Not something fun." (y/n) answered glumly.

As they arrived, everyone was there and Shadis stood in front.

"This here, is Lake Laogai. It contains some of the tastiest fish we know. Today, all day, you will be fishing for your own dinner." Shadis explained.

"How will we fish? With nets or rods?" Jean asked.

"Your bare hands, that's what! Now, for some rules. You will catch fish on your own. No teamwork. If you offer help, receive help, or work together catching fish, you will not be eating all day. At all."

Sasha was panicking beside (y/n).

"That's... That's just torture..." she mumbled.

"Ladies, over on my right I have bandage ready for you. Strip, cover what you need covered and get in the water. Same for the men on my left. GET GOING, MAGGOTS!"

(y/n) stumbled her way to the right, and did as Shadis had commanded. She bandaged her private parts, her feet and her hands only.

"(y/n), won't you be cold?" Mikasa shared her concern.

"Probably, but this'll be cold no matter how much bandage you're wearing. I suggest using as little cloth possible. More bandage will weigh you down. But I would protect your feet and hands. Getting cuts on them in this water might cause an infection."

Mikasa nodded. "Good thinking."

(y/n) started walking to where Shadis had explained the assignment. She was first to stand before the lake. She hadn't taken much time bandaging, since she didn't exactly bandage much.

She noticed Levi and Erwin leaning against a couple of trees a few yards back. She gave them a small wave. "You guys not swimming, huh?"

"We'd prefer to just watch the show." Erwin answered.

(y/n) then saw Jean and a few other guys approach from the 'boy side'.

"Ah, (y/n)! I see right through your tactics." Jean spoke as he walked over to her.

"My tactics? Please elaborate." she answered.

"You plan on distracting all the boys with the little amount of clothing you're wearing, so that there's more fish to catch for you."

Levi then realized he didn't like Jean very much.

"Oh Jean, only a virgin like you would get distracted by me wearing this."

"Virgin like me? So you're saying you're not a virgin?"

"Ch-, I am. But with you it's just painfully obvious. Now stop embarrassing yourself in front of your superiors and get in the water." (y/n) said, smiling and nudging her head towards Levi and Erwin.

Jean looked over at them, and they looked unimpressed. He blushed and jumped in the water.

(y/n) laughed loudly and shot Levi and Erwin a glance with her eyebrows raised, as if to say, 'what a dumbass, isn't he?' before jumping headfirst into the water herself.

Oh BOY, this is cold. So, so, so cold. Darn-it, I yearn for Levi's blanket! Were her first thoughts. She rose up from the water, and her breathing was heavy, but she was smiling nevertheless. The cold felt invigorating. The lake wasn't deep, which was nice because that meant she could stand. It was also handy for all those who couldn't swim.

Suddenly something grasped her ankle. She panicked for a split second, but then Jean submerged, causing her to laugh and splash him with water whilst insulting him.

Other people joined the water, and for the first half hour, nearly everyone had kind of forgotten their initial objective.

(y/n) suddenly felt something skid her foot, most likely a fish, and remembered what she was there to do. She swam after it and eventually caught it. She rose her arm up above the water to examine it. It was a little splattering fish, just short of 4 inches.

"That won't cut it for an entire day..." she mumbled.

"Hey! (y/n)'s caught one!" Eren noticed.

"Pff, that's nothing! I can catch a way bigger one!" Jean yelled from closer to the shore.

"Jean! Are you trying to compensate for something with that big ego of yours?" She yelled back, gaining a few laughs, and even a twitch of the lips from Levi, who could hear the entire ordeal since the water carried sound effortlessly.

Jean, once again, blushed and muttered 'Why you...' as he went under to find some fish.

(y/n) swam to the shore, still holding her little fish. She dug a hole in the gravel that was on the shore of the lake and placed her newly-named fish 'Gup' in it.

Erwin was away talking to Shadis about some important matters, which left only Levi to observe the idiots in the lake. (y/n) walked over to him.

"So you insist on being old and boring, standing by the side of the lake?"

"Why on earth would I join?" he questioned.

No reason. I just want to see you without a shirt. She thought.

"Good point. But what will you be eating tonight then?"

"You'll share with me, won't you?" he said, turning back to the paper he was writing on. Report-writing, it seemed to be.

"Only if I have to."

"(Y/N)! LOOK!" Jean yelled, holding up a fish nearly twice the size of Gup.

"Shit... Levi, you'll watch my fish for me, won't you?"

"Only if I have to." he answered. (y/n) smirked.

"Thanks." she said, and as she turned around, she purposely whipped her hair around, making Levi wet.

"Wh-, GODDAMN BRAT!" he yelled, but out of fear of his reaction (y/n) had already run into the lake as quickly as she could, smiling like an idiot.
