"Okay initiates," bellowed Nick, our instructor. We had finally gathered around and were awaiting our instructions. We watched silently as Nick walked to the big hole it the ground and pointed down into it. "Jump into this hole," he said nonchalantly.

"Is there anything at the bottom?" asked a rather obnoxious looking Candor girl. No dip Sherlock! Why wouldn't they put anything under there. This is Dauntless, not Erudite. If they tell you to jump into a dark hole, you jump down the dark hole! You don't find another way out, that doesn't say anything about bravery.

"You're going to have to find out for yourself," was all he said. No one moved. My heroes. Annoyed with the silence I stepped forward only to see Scarlet starting up as well. Oh cool we can do it together!

"Wait! I'm coming with you!" I exclaimed, catching Scar's attention. She grins and waited till I made my way onto the tiny, little 3 feet tall wall blocking us from the hole. I guess she likes the idea of having a friend at her side when she jumps to her possible death. Before Nick could say, "One at a time" we both took one step forward, and fell.

"WHOO!" I exclaim/scream with joy. This is so much fun! I love the feeling you get in your stomach when you fall. I love the quick adrenalin rush you get. I love the wind pushing against my back and the feeling of, well...nothing. Suddenly I land on something hard but stretchy and I bounce a little before I completely stop. I laugh a bit, probably sounding like a maniac before whooping a bit more. I NEVER got to do this as an Erudite! Actaull fun seemed to be always pointless and illogical. Well now, everything's  illogical,  it doesn't matter! Ugh, what I'd do to see my mother's face right now! HAH!

I felt a hand wrap around my arm and I am pulled off  the net. "Please start paying attention when we land," said a voice. It was Scar. She looks slightly annoyed yet very excited. She's fighting a smile. I know she's kind of stressed out and lonely so I decide to say what she'd want me to say, "If there wasn't a net down here, I wouldn't want to pay attention." That's good, doesn't make me sound very weak.

"You sound like a Candor smart-aleck." she said, rolling her eyes. I believe she meant Erudite so in that case, I am. Live with it.

"What are your names?" asked a rough voice. In front of us stood a boy, no older than 18, tall and muscular as he glared at us. His arms were crossed protectively across his chest. I stared suspiciously as he shifted from one foot to another. It's too dark now to see any special features like, his face but I doubt I'll see him again.

"Scar," replied Scarlet. The faint smile she had is gone now replaced with something serious.

"What about a scar?" asked the idiotic boy. Scar brought him into light, pronouncing every sylobel very carefully, "My. Name. Is. Scar," she said very slowly. He seemed to think about this for a moment before realizing what she just said.

"My name's Ellie!" I blurted quickly, leaning forward from behind Scar and waving my hand. He made no acknowledgement that I was even there. He doesn't even notice I'm here. Typical. "Well, I'm Eric. One of the Dauntless leaders." Without another word he grabbed both our hands and raised them over our heads, shouting into the crowd, "Scar and Ellie! Double first Jumpers!" Huh, I guess he did see me.
