Capture the Flag

I skipped over piles of woody debris and rubble as we followed close behind Alex. Nick was right on Alex's heels and I was right on his. Alex said the flag was hidden at the top of a clock tower and  that Jude was at the top. I just couldn't wait to get up there and send thousands of painful darts into her side where I knew she was bruised. I know I'm being mean at the moment but even on the train ride here she hadn't seemed to change at all. Still the rude, selfish, dumb, dishonest little coward I met the first day of training. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she ended up factionless.

We left four of our best shooters with the flag as defense while the rest of us head down to the tower where we knew Eric and his team were waiting.

We finally reached the edge of the woods and ahead of us stood the worn clock tower. the clock never ticked but it was still a pretty good place to put the flag. I bet he puts the flag here every year. There were none of Eric's little soldiers around so I knew we'd have to be just as sneaky. The forest wrapped around the tower and large crates, boxes and whatnots created a maze right to the tower's back door. That's the route we'll take. Or at least...I will.

Alex, Scar and I were chosen specifically by Nick to capture the flag. Behind me everyone was begging to gear up, I checked my gun just one more time so I knew there were enough bullets for me to get to Jude eventually. Suddenly, Scar appeared at my elbow. She wore a serious frown. Dude you're about to beat up Luke! Smile a bit!

"Thank you, for everything," she whispered. I smiled one of my craziest, creepiest, happiest smiles ever and nodded. Together we joined Alex on our walk toward the flag.

"Luke is on the middle floor," Alex announced. Without a seconds' hesitation Scar blurted, "I'll go against Luke as a distraction so Ellie can beat the crap out of her and get the flag." Great minds think alike.

"That's a brilliant idea Scar," I exclaimed proudly in a posh accent.

"I had this plan only so I could go against Luke," she blushed.

Alex shrugged his shoulders, "That's fine with me." I didn't have much of a problem with Luke anymore now that I know he feels guilty for what he did. But I still ship them.

We high-fived and made our way around back. Alex was going first because he would be distracting the big guy on the first floor.

Finally we reached the back entrance and we waited while Alex took care of the first guy. The battle had already begun in front but you could still hear the faint 'pop' of the gun and shrill screech of whoever else was in there. Alex poked his head out and waved for us to follow. With Scar by my side and my weapon high we snuck toward the door.

I looked around the for the other guy who should have been writhing in pain. He wasn't anywhere to be seen.

"Hey Alex, where's...that dude you shot?" I asked.

"I stuffed him in the storage closet over there," he said shrugging. I smiled and ruffled his hair, "That's my boy." Scar, being the impatient little Dauntless girl she is was already moving up the long flight of stairs. I rolled my eyes playfully and raced up after her while Alex stood guard at the entrance. Halfway up we could hear Luke's silent pacing. Scar aimed her gun and fired at him before he saw her. The dart hit his leg and he winced in pain. Regardless he was determined to stop us. We he advanced on Scar I slipped past the two, dodging Luke's outstretched hand in attempt to stop me. That's why I have Scar.

At the top of the next long flight of stairs I could hear Jude's uneven pants. I readied my gun and smirked. We've won already.

Keeping my head low I crept toward the top. I shot at the first thing I saw move. Luckily, it was Jude. She screeched in pain as I looked around for the flag. I couldn't see it immediately. It must be on the balcony. A movement at the corner of my eyes interrupted my search. The dart's pain had worn off and Jude was on her feet. Man, she looks mad. I aimed for another shot but she got there first. A dart hit my side while the another grazed my arm. Both felt like I had been set ablaze. My entire side burned but I wasn't going to let it stop me. I waited for her to shoot again. I want a close hit.

Jude shot again at my leg, my arm felt fine now but my side still burned. I pretended to fall and go limp, my eyes closed gently. I would've fell anyway this stuff hurts! Jude screamed and rushed to my side. She's such an idiot. As soon as she got close I swung my gun at her face. It hit her temple and she stumbled onto her butt.  Still on the floor I shot at her side, right on the bruise. She held her side while screaming in agony. Slowly I stumbled to my feet.

"Never get in my way Jude, you know what'll happen only next time it'll be worse," I said. She glared evilly at me and  tried to get up again so I shot her leg on my way out onto the balcony. I really don't like her.

There I spotted a neon orange flag. I strolled over and swung it over my head in victory. The pain in my side and leg was gone, only a faint numbing but otherwise I was perfect. Scar soon joined me at my side looking just as victorious as I felt.

"You did it!" she yelled. As if it was all me! Jeez give yourself some credit. I knew better that to argue with her, we'd only go in circles of nonstop compliments.

"Thanks to you!" I exclaimed. She grinned brighter than the flag. Her smile reaching from ear to ear.

Our first Capture the Flag game and...we won. We...are awesome. Eric won't be happy. But we're still awesome.

After all, Nick chose the Divergent.

     ...wait a second...
