I got home with a smile on my face. Weird. How am I smiling when I'm in so much pain? I'm fact, I barely am noticing the pain. Must be the painkillers my mom brought to the school with her.

"So what exactly happened?" My mom asked.

"I got tackled in gym." I told her.

She turned to look at me and smirked. "What did you say this time?"

"Actually, I didn't say anything that bad. I had the ball and that made me a target." I laughed.

"Hmm, good for you. It's nice to hear you getting involved." She said. How dare she say such a think.

"I am involved! I've got an academics club meeting tomorrow after school." I countered.

My mom scoffed. "What, after the school you're not going to tomorrow?"

The next few minutes was me arguing that I was in perfect condition to go, and my mother counter arguing by tapping my ankle (Such an evil woman at times). Needless to say, she won the fight.

"You know, if a jock comes over its your fault." I said as she sat pillows in place so I could elevate my foot.

She raised a brow. "You know, I keep a bat by the door for a reason."

"He wouldn't be coming for that. He wants to be my friend, and apparently that means bugging me all the time. He said he would show up here if I didn't show up for school." Sometimes I worry about her reactions of I wasn't around to explain things to her.

My mother's eyes widened. "You want me to just let some boy come over while my son is injured and vulnerable? Or would you rather have him around?" She asked with a smirk.

"No... Mom, it's not like th~"

"It's fine, I understand. I've got to go to work anyways. Lots of papers and stuff. You know." She said with a massive grin.

I glared in her direction. "Mom, you don't have work tomorrow."

"Oh, I don't? Well maybe I'll just go out with the girls or something. I'm sure I can keep myself busy for awhile." She remarked.

This woman truly is evil.

And the rest of my day was quiet. I sat around, I played video games, I ate a small piece of cake... Ok, it was an entire small cake.
My mom had me sleep downstairs on the couch so she could keep my foot up, which I was fine with, it let me finish a few more missions in InFamous 2: M-Rated Remaster.

I woke up the next morning to my mom shaking my shoulder (How dare she wake me after not letting me go to school!), and barely opened my eyes enough to see a tray with a plate of pancakes, a glass of water, and painkillers, on it (I retract my previous comment).

"I'm not gonna be around today, so try not to move too much." She said quietly as I was blinking the sleep from my eyes still.

"Wait, you're actually going? But what if I need help with something?" I yawned. "You told me not to walk around."

She laughed a little. "Well, because someone was awake all night murdering police and militia, that same someone has been asleep till 11:40 A.M." My mother said. "Which means, in a few hours, their boyfriend will be here."

Boyfriend? Wait, boyfriend? Who is she talking ab~ "OH MY GOD, NO MOM!"

"Wow, did you get a concussion when they took you out? Your processing time was really slow there." She snickered.

"Mom, I don't have a boyfriend. Romeo is just some stupid jock." I said, her eyes lighting up.

"Romeo Romulus? The Romeo Romulus?!" She began, a hand on her chest.

I sighed. "Does everyone know him but me?"

"Actually, I've only heard the name, I just like making a scene." She said, acting normal again (I swear, she's gonna cause more than a scene one of these days). "Apparently he's a really big target for single teenage girls, and sometimes taken one, but he always says no." She explained. "You've got yourself quite a catch, hun. But if he hurts you, I hurt him."

"Mom, you know how I feel about sports players." I hissed.

My mom smirked (Oh no), and cleared her throat. "Right, of course, how could I forget. I mean, you did spend an entire season going to soccer games just to watch the boys, so it's hard to not remember."

"MOM! T-that was for school, and nothing else!" I stuttered out. Yeah, that was convincing, Julian.

She shrugged and began walking away. "Of course, of course. Well, I should be on my way now. Oh, before I forget to say it..." She stopped as she was walking out the door, turning to look at me. "... Romeo is on the soccer team. A top player."

"MOM! GO!" Oh god, my cheeks are on fire right now...

She walked out the door and I let go of a breath I didn't know I was holding in and looked at the tray. Pancakes and drugs. What else could a young boy need? But I must say... These are really good pancakes.

After a few hours of playing games, a knock came at the door, and I froze. My heart stopped when I heard someone call my name from the other side of it.

"Julian?" I heard him call in concern. "Are you ok?" Romeo asked from his side of the door.
