I took a step forward, making sure I looked amazing in the mirror. And if you were wondering, I do look amazing.

"Julian." My mother breathed out. "You look fantastic."

I looked over myself, from my silver bowtie, purple undershirt, and black jacket, all the way down to the silver laces on my black shoes and my purple socks. My hair was combed off to the side as usually, but I used special conditioner to make it softer and silkier than it usually would be. My brown eyes reflected a light that I wasn't use to seeing in the mirror. I like it.

"I do look good, don't I." I softly agreed, slightly laughing.

My mom swapped her arms over my shoulders, giving me a kiss on the cheek. "My little boy is all grown up, going to dances with his boyfriend picking him up."

"Warren is too much of a pain to be my boyfriend, mom." I laughed. "Plus, I already take the slot of 'gay child person' on the academic team, so he's gotta be straight."

"Gay child person? Sometimes I wonder where you get your weirdness, then I remember you're my son." She giggled. "Still though, this is big for me. My son is going off to a dance with a guy his known since middle school, and someone that I know for a fact is a good person. Warren and you make a cute couple for sure."

I laughed, seeing my face show a little bit of pink through the mirror. "Mom, seriously, you can't try to ship me with every single boy I know."

"First of all, I'm your mother, I can ship you with anyone. Second of all, I'd never ship you with Henry, that'd be weird." She said with a smile.

A knock came at the door (Shut up heartbeat, you don't need to rise for no reason), and I made my way over, skipping happily along. When I opened the door, Warren was in the other side nervously waiting, but all that melting away when he saw me.

There was silence for a moment before I spoke. "What?" I asked him with a soft laugh. "You're looking at me as if I paid your student loans."

"I just..." He began. "I wasn't expecting you to look so nice."

Pretending to be offended, I hit a hand to my chest. "What is that supposed to mean, good sir? Do I not usually look good?"

"No! I mean, yes, you look fine usually, it's just~! I mean~! You're just stunning, and~..." Warren froze.

"Ok, Radcliff, I'll forgive you this once. But only because you called me stunning, and I'm a sucker for flattery." I joked. "Lets get going, before they start playing the good dance music."

He smiled, gently taking my hand to bring me over to the car. Just as we were making it down the sidewalk, my mother jumped in front of us with her arms outstretched.

"Wait, please let me take a picture before you go. Please...?" She begged. Damn it, woman, just let me go...

Warren smiled and she took a few pictures, never letting go of my hand. After the pictures, he lead me to the car, opening the door for me, and then going in the other side of the back seat so he could sit down next to me.

Warren's dad was driving, but he didn't say a word as I entered, just smiled at me through the rearview mirror and drove away from my house. The only thing he said to me or Warren was "Have fun" as we left to walk into the dance.

"Yo, Julian!" I heard someone shout (Someone who said they wouldn't be here). Henry ran up to us, being met with my fist to his shoulder. "Ow!"

"What the Hell? You said you wouldn't be here." I snapped.

Henry rolled his eyes at me."Oh, well I'm sorry for changing my mind, jeez." He looked down and saw our hands intertwined, then looked back up to up. "You two dweebs finally get together?"
