Gamble on Love

Chapter One

Tapping my foot on the floor, I glance down at the time on my phone. "Want to bet that Kiara is too busy flirting with some guy and Cassandra is dragging her away?"

Cressida smiles, her blue eyes hinting at amusement. "I have complete faith in Cass's abilities." Cassandra and Cressida are twins, although Cressida keeps her natural blonde hair whilst Cassandra dyes hers black, keeping up her goth image.

Sure enough, Kiara storms out with Cassandra smirking behind her. "Ugh why do we keep her around?"

"Because she's Cressida's twin sister?" I suggest, smiling at Kiara's anger.

Cassandra opens her mouth to argue but gets cut off by peacemaker Cressida. "Let's go."

Cressida and Cassandra lead on, and Kiara links arms with me. "Fucking hell Rae why is Cass so against getting a boyfriend? He might help her chill."

I shrug. "Who knows with Cass."

"I mean," Kiara continues as if I didn't answer. "Cressida has potential. If she wasn't so shy and put herself out there. Like she isn't as pretty as me but she's pretty close."

"Fucking thanks I see how it is." I pause to glare at her. "Besides, they'd have to get past Cass first and that's never going to happen."

Kiara nods in agreement. "Very true."

"Hey Kiara!" We both turn around and see Asher jogging up to us. Asher and Kiara have a history of sleeping together, although Asher is head over heels in love with Kiara but won't admit it. Just like Kiara feels the same for Asher but hides it.

"Oh hey Rae, how are you Rae?" I say sarcastically.

Asher smiles at me. "Hey there shorty. Didn't see you there."

Kiara laughs. "You have a death wish Ash." She's the only one allowed to call him that, yet another sign of them destined to be together.

I kick Asher in the shin, smiling when he cries out in pain. "Whoops. Didn't see you there."

Cassandra, Cressida and Kiara all laugh. Asher pouts, dramatically falling onto his knees in front of me. "I'm so sorry Rae! Please forgive me." He begs.

Kiara has her phone out and is filming it, a smirk on her face. "I don't believe you Ashy."

He glares at her before looking back at me. "I'm having a party tonight and you're all invited!"

He looks behind us at the twins.

"Ooh party!" Kiara squeals. "We're in!"

Asher stands up and nods at us. "See you later." He winks at Kiara before finally leaving us in peace.

"Your place we go." I sigh, knowing there's no way I can get out of this.

"It's summer Rae! I'm going to find you a guy and don't fucking argue with me because tough shit. And you both are coming to the party too." She adds, raising an eyebrow challengingly.

Cassandra rolls her eyes. "I'll pass."

Cressida smiles nervously. "I'm in."

"What?! No way are you-"

"Yay! Let's go bitches!" Kiara screeches, causing the people around us to glare.

Four painful hours later, we are deemed fuckable by her majesty Kiara. Kiara and Cressida are in dresses; Kiara modelling a tight hot pink one only she could pull off and Cressida in a mint green flowy maxi dress. Cassandra is sporting ripped black skinny jeans and a black top, and me with skinny jeans and a royal blue top.

Tessa, Kiara's older sister, gives us a lift. Ten minutes later, we arrive at Asher's. Kiara checks her straight blonde hair is perfect before turning to me and narrowing her hazel eyes. "Don't ruin your makeup or play with your hair."

Rolling my eyes, I grudgingly agree. She somehow made my boring brown eyes look interesting and curled my dark brown hair to perfection. I can never curl it so it's right so I always get Kiara to do it for me.

We all enter Asher's house, Kiara immediately dragging us all to the drinks section, fixing us all drinks. As soon as our drinks are in our hands, she holds her own up for a toast. "To summer. May Cassandra and Cressida have a fucking fabulous time fucking off to Italy and abandoning us. And to finding Rae a boyfriend as my summer mission!"

Cassandra and I exchange eye rolls before holding our cups up. "To summer."

"Oh no!" Cressida gasps suddenly.

"What?" We all follow the direction she's staring at and see Asher grinding against a girl.

Before we can do anything, Kiara downs her drink before snatching my drink from my hands, and stalks towards them. She grabs the girl by the arm roughly.

"What the fuck?" The girl snaps.

Kiara simply throws my drink in her face. "Stay the fuck away from Asher."

The girl lunges at Kiara. Immediately, I rush towards her and yank her away. Asher grabs Kiara, nodding at me. "I'll take care of her."

"You better or I'll fuck you up." I threaten.

With fear in his eyes, he drags Kiara away. I let go of the girl and head back towards Cassandra and Cressida, ignoring the girl screaming profanities at my back. "I'm not drunk enough to deal with this shit."

Cressida laughs whilst Cassandra rolls her eyes. "Why don't they just get together already and spare the drama?"

"Because it's Kiara and Asher." I simply say. "I'm going to go outside or a few."

They nod in response, so I head out, inhaling the cool air. I sit in a chair and gaze at the stars.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" A voice behind me makes me jump. He steps out into the light, and I can't help but check him out. He's hot: tall and lean with short blonde hair, sky blue eyes, plump lips and a jawline to die for.

I smirk at him. "What? The stars or me?"

"The stars, of course." He responds with a straight face. I blink at him, wondering if he's joking or not. He laughs at my facial expression.

I glare at him. "You fucking dickhead."

His eyebrows rise in surprise. "Wow what a mouth for such a little thing."

"Wow what a massive dick you are. What, is yours so small you have to compensate for it in your personality?" I sneer at him.

"Want to find out?" He wriggles his eyebrows suggestively.

My face scrunches up in disgust. "No, I'll pass. But thanks so much for the generous offer."

He laughs, a genuine one. "Alright, your loss. I'll leave before you make any threats about ripping my dick off." He turns and heads back to the party.

"Hey!" I shout at his retreating back. "I didn't get your name."

He winks at me over his shoulder. "It's a mystery. See you around, shorty."

And with that, he disappears into the sea of drunken people.
