Chapter 17: You and Me in Sweet "Paree" 🌠🗼

Emily's POV

Emily tries to avoid the other four girls for the rest of the day so she won't be asked any questions about "losing her virginity" to Ben. She clearly lied about it, but didn't want to feel left out by being the only virgin. On top of that, Hanna had called her a prude which validated the point.
She skips lunch and goes home early to see an unwanted gift waiting for her at the front door.
The one and only..

Paige McCullers.

Emily: Hey Paige.. have you been following me? How'd you know I'd be here early..

Paige: Hello Emily. And yes. Actually I did follow you. I took a shortcut to try and beat you here. But actually, I was wondering if you wanted to go to dinner with me tonight..
to talk?

Emily: Um..I dunno. Tonight's honestly not the best night. My moms still mad at me for not texting her when I was going out this past weekend.
And...Oh crap.

Paige: What's wrong?

Emily forgets that she usually studies with Alison on Mondays for French class after school. But she was so uncomfortable with the whole group chat situation she just wanted to run as far away as possible.

Emily: Well me & Ali usually study on Mondays.. I completely forgot. I should text her so she doesn't think I bailed on her.

Paige: Hm.. so you two are still cool? Even after she wrote that fake letter from you to me? Emily she's toxic..

Emily: Paige I have to tell you something.

Emily takes a deep breath and begins to speak..

Emily: Ali let me kiss her..once..or twice.

Paige: I'm not so sure I want to hear this.

Emily: I'm not so sure I want to tell you, but... I have to say it out loud..

She let me kiss her, and... I thought it was this incredible gift. I felt so powerful..
Now I know I wasn't.

Paige: What changed your mind?

Emily: I realized it didn't mean anything to her... I don't think she ever loved anybody. I don't think she knows how...
She just collects love from other people.

Emily begins to fight back tears as she turns away from Paige..

Paige: She's been hurting you for so long, and you're still thinking about her..still reaching out to her..

"Because she broke my heart. I mean, really... like, I... I could hear it crack inside me."
The tears start to roll down Emily's cheeks and her face turns pale and flushed.

Paige: I hate her for being so mean to you, so cruel.

Emily: Cruel would mean she cared what she was doing. I don't think she did...
She says as she wipes the tears away.

Paige: Is this how you finally start to say "good-bye" to her?

Emily: I guess is it is..
Anyway Ive gotta get inside before my mom gets home. See you later Paige.

Paige: I'll text you..
See ya.

Emily goes inside and takes her phone out of her pocket and sees about 10 missed calls and texts from the girls asking where she is, but right now she only wants to talk to one person to make her feel better.
