Chapter 18: Don't Let Me Fall 🥀

Alison's POV

"Even though my intentions are usually good, I don't always act on them in the most caring way and I end up hurting the people I love.
Most times playing someone like a violin gave me so much power and I felt like I was high as a kite.
But with Emily, it's different.
I don't want to hurt her, I genuinely care about her..
I guess my pride is just in the way. I could always be myself around her, the person I wanna be. I'm not really sure what this means..I know im not gay..maybe I am...
Idk, there's just something about Emily's innocence that makes me melt and I can never get enough. She is well aware of how much power I have over her and her emotions.
I know exactly what to say, how to say it, and which direction to throw it in..
But if only she knew how much power she had over me too.
Although I did want to interrogate her a little about Ben..maybe now is not the best time, I wanna savor this moment."

Alison: Well..I know you probably thought I wanted to talk to you about Ben and the whole group chat thing today...But honestly no. That's not it..

Emily: What is it then? Is everything okay?

Alison: Yeah..Well, I think it is. I just...
wanted to talk about us..the diary, the party...
and the elephant in the room.

Emily suddenly becomes defensive and crosses her arms.

Emily: What about it? You said what you said clear as day in your diary..
I got the message that you don't really care about me.

Alison: I bet you're wondering which one's real... the girl in front of you or the one who wrote that.
Well, So am I. That's why I need you.
You always see the best version of me...the person I want to be.

Emily: Well I don't see that anymore.

Alison's heart sinks a little at Emily's harsh tone and her deep brown eyes which have now turned cold.

Alison: Em....I'm--

Pam: Hello ladies! Nice to see you Ali.

Emily's mom barges in the room with pizza boxes. Neither one of the girls heard the garage open because they were so engrossed into the conversation.

Alison: Hi Mrs.Fields! Thank you for the pizza.

Pam: No problem sweetie. If you girls need anything else just let me know.

She leaves the room and Emily feels a little guilty about how she responded so abruptly at Ali when she was genuinely try to open up and express how she felt.

Emily: I'm sorry Ali...I've just had so much on my mind lately..
I didn't mean it.

Alison's mood quickly changes back to indifferent because she's now embarrassed from being so vulnerable.

Alison: Don't worry about it, Em. We will talk about it another time..I just remembered I have to go help my mom with something.
Are you coming to Hannas for movie night?

Emily: Movie night?

Alison: Yeah, she wanted to make it up to you and invite you over tonight for movies.
Im not sure if it was suppose to be a surprise or not but whatevs'..

Emily: I'll have to ask my mom because I'm still in trouble, But I'll make something up.

Alison: See you then. I'll let myself out.

Alison leaves out of Emily's room and she can hear her mom asking Ali why she's leaving so early. She mumbles something and then Emily hears the front door open then close.
Her mom then walks back into Emily's room to talk to her.

Pam: Is everything okay with you girls? Alison seemed a little down when she was leaving.

Emily: I'm not sure.
I think something's going on..
Do you mind if I go meet up with her later so I can talk to her? I think she really needs a friend..

Emily once again has told a white lie about where she'll be tonight. She told the truth that she'll be with Ali, but she's really gonna be with Hanna and the rest of the girls as well..

Pam: Sure honey..And you know you can talk to me about anything right?

Emily nods and they give each other a hug. She proceeds to text Hanna finally confirming she'll be at her house for the movie night when she sees an unexpected name on her phone.

Ben.

Text from Ben: Hey Emily. Is something going on with you and Alison?
I just saw her few minutes ago and asked her what was wrong..she looked like she had been crying.

Emily: She just left from my house not too long ago..what'd she say to you? And what made you assume it had to do with me?

From: Ben
I don't know..lucky guess? I just assumed because it seems like you two are the closest..Anyway, I asked her where she was coming from and she mumbled something and called me a flathead. I called her a dyke...then she punched me in the face.

Emily: Wtf? Why would you call her a dyke!?

Ben never texts back.

Emily's POV

She then calls Hanna to let her know she's on the way. Alison's kind of off her rocker to just go around punching people. But Ben is an asshole for using that word, especially because Emily takes it to heart..

What is going on between them? Do they know something I don't?
