Daniel held the box firmly in his hand. He hoped that Rosemary would like his present for her. It was her eleventh birthday today, and the day where they could open their first Hogwarts letters together.

He wanted Rosemary to like the gift he had for her. He didn't want her to leave him, she was his best friend, his sister. He wanted to get something good for her, after all that she had done for him. If it wasn't for her, he would probably behave and think like his parents. But then again, they acted as if he didn't exist, so he doubted that he would become like them either way. But with Rosemary, he had the chance to love, and feel loved.

Daniel had spent the night in his room at the big Costelle manor. He went out of the room, and tiptoed without a sound like a ninja, to the room next door – Rosemary's room. He opened the door, silently, and took cautious steps towards the king-sized bed where the sleeping Rosemary slept.

And ever so cautiously he put the small box in his pocket and carefully hovered his hands above Rosemary's bedding and pulled the cover away from Rosemary. Rosemary curled up in her bed, from the sudden cold.

Daniel sighed, and threw the cover on the end of Rosemary's bed, and thought of other ways to wake her up. He then shrugged and climbed in the bed beside her. Rosemary instantly curled up beside him, craving the warmth his body radiated. Daniel smiled at Rosemary, and poked her cheek. She didn't move. He poked it again. And again. Four times. Five. Until, Rosemary finally moved her head and fluttered her eyes open.

She blinked a few times, and finally looked at Daniel beside her. She looked at him confused but shrugged it off. It wasn't the first time one of them had woken up with the other in the same bed.

"Good morning, Dani."

"Morning." Daniel replied, smiling.

They both sat up and leaned against the headboard. Daniel looked at Rosemary and took out the little box from his pocket: "Happy birthday, Rosie. I hope you'll like it." He gave her the box and waited for her to open the present.

Rosemary smiled at Daniel and took the box gently from his hand. She opened it carefully. Inside, she found a golden pendant. The pendant had a beautiful rose in the middle, with swirling designs surrounding it. Rosemary held it lovingly, and looked at Daniel who was looking at her anxiously.

"It is a beautiful necklace Dani. I love it. Can you help me put it on?" Daniel nodded at her request, smiling, glad that she approved of his present.

After getting the necklace on, Rosemary hugged Daniel, and thanked him again. Then suddenly, Rosemary remembered something.

She took Daniel's hand and pulled him with her hurryingly slipping on her slippers, still wearing her nightgown, with her open hair. She ran and dragged him with her to the Costelle owlery, which was a good distance away.

They ran past house elves, servants and guards who were looking at the pair confused and startled. But Rosemary didn't care that she wasn't wearing appropriate clothing at the moment, and Daniel just went along with whatever Rosemary had in mind, since he trusted her.

Once they had arrived at the owlery, Daniel realised what Rosemary had in mind, he became excited to finally open his Hogwarts letter, with Rosemary by his side reading hers. They took long strides towards a school owl, and carefully took the letters from it. Rosemary called on a house elf, who popped there and asked if he could get her a few Knuts to pay the owl. And so, the elf left, only to return seconds later, giving Rosemary what she had asked for. The house elf vanished and Rosemary went to the owl and put the Knuts in its pouch and then it flew away.

With the Hogwarts letters in their hands, they looked at each other with excited grins. This was it. The moment they had been waiting for, for years – or in Daniel's case, two months more than Rosemary.
