As my eyes slowly flutter open I hear the sound of soft snoring near my ear along with some cars honking outside.
I yawn and begin to stretch when I suddenly feel the soft fabric of my sheets that are tangled everywhere brush against my skin. All of my skin.
My face begins to burn while I feel Sam's large frame pressing against my back. He's wearing boxers and nothing more. He must have put them on after last night.
Memories of the evening replay in my head. I close my eyes and sigh. As bad as it is, I don't actually feel as guilty as I thought I would. I just feel..neutral.
Like this was normal. I can only wish it was though.
I feel Sam shifting around behind me and I unexpectedly smile. Out of nowhere I feel a tender kiss on my shoulder and a scruffy voice whisper, "Happy birthday."
I slowly turn in his arms so I'm facing him now that he's awake. His hair is sticking out in different directions and his eyes have small dark circles under them. We weren't up that late..were we?
His eyes are just barely open, but he has a smile on his face which makes one appear on my own.
His dimples gleam as I lean in and give him a kiss. I feel an exciting, unexplainable feeling within me ignite when we kiss and I smile into it, loving the feeling.
"Thank you," I whisper when I pull away and start to brush some of his hair behind an ear. Seeing him lay here after last night makes me want to pounce on him and do it all over again.
There's something about seeing him post-sex that also makes me not want to leave this bed. If I could I would lay here forever with him and wouldn't have a worry in the world.
How can I worry when I'm with him? That's the question I love. We wouldn't even need to do anything and I would still be more than satisfied.
Sam suddenly mumbles something.
"Pardon?"
"I never knew you had a tattoo."
I smile, remembering the ink on my right shoulder blade. "Vice versa."
"Why a rose?"
I take a deep breath as I feel my chest slowly getting tighter.
"It was my Moms favourite flower..too. She passed away when I was around twelve. My Dad would always pick her some from our backyard where a patch grew. Cheesy, I know, but it was so sweet and she loved it more than anything. So the day I turned eighteen I went out and decided to get a tattoo," I explain, watching Sam's face turn soft the entire time as I talk.
"She meant a lot to you," He says, rubbing my arm gently.
"More than anything," I tell him back, my voice shaky as I feel my eyes suddenly start to get wet. I don't want Sam to see me cry. Before any tears escape I quickly say, "So, what's your tattoo of?"
Sam opens his mouth to answer, but then suddenly closes it. His eyes have an almost uncertain emotion like he doesn't know how to reply.
"I saw Dean has the same one," I add.
"Yeah. Um.." He pauses, looking away from me, his forehead scrunched like he's thinking hard. "We got them for a kind of protection..in a way. A symbol. It's..hard to explain."
"Well it looks nice. I like it."
He chuckles, not expecting to hear that as his dimples show off.
"It's nothing too..spectacular. But it's been doing it's time,"
Doing it's time.
One thing leads to the next and I start to sit up.
"I think we forgot something."
I jump out of bed and quickly put on a pair of underwear with a random shirt and run out of the room into the kitchen.
I find Dean standing at the island having some coffee. His eyes meet mine and a grin slowly falls onto his face. I notice the pie is sitting on the island too, unburnt. A wave of relief washes over me as I begin to feel a different emotion take over me.
"Good morning, Blair," Dean says casually, but with a smirk on his smug face.
"Hi Dean..," I sheepishly reply, pulling the oversized shirt down with my fists so it covers most of my midsection.
"Big 21 huh?"
"Yep."
"Happy birthday, kid. Here." He slides another cup of coffee that is on the island towards me. I walk forward and grab it with both hands and take a small sip of the hot liquid.
"Oh you can also take these." Dean hands me me and Sam's clothes that we left here from last night.
My cheeks burn as I grab them and manage to choke out, "thank you."
"No need to thank me. Well, other than I got back here in time to get the pie before it burnt, or set the oven on fire of course."
I chuckle. "Yeah..thanks about that. I'm happy it turned out good," I say while examining the crisp looking pastry.
"Blair?" I hear my name being called from behind. I look over my shoulder to see Sam enter in his boxers and a shirt he must have slipped on. When he sees Dean and I his face starts to turn a light shade of pink.
"Hey, Sammy! Way to celebrate without me last night!!" Dean says, walking over and giving Sam a pat on the back. Sam's face starts to turn crimson as he looks over at me and his eyes flicker elsewhere. "I'm proud of you. Both of you. It was about time. But next time, keep it down."
Dean begins to walk out of the kitchen, but then suddenly jerks back around.
"Oh wait," He says and starts to dig in his pocket. He then grabs a small box and tosses it in my direction. I catch it with both hands to look down at it and see it's a condom box.
"Happy birthday," he says then walks out of the kitchen while I put my hands on my face to not show how red it must be turning.
"I'm..sorry about him," I hear Sam say as I look back up. I place the box on the table and begin laughing.
"Don't be sorry. Dean just makes everything a little extra interesting."
Sam looks at me questioningly, but not long after begins to chuckle as well.
"So get this, I heard that there was a fair going on this week in town and I thought..maybe you'd like to go," Sam timidly says, waiting for my response.
"I don't think there's any better way to spend my birthday," I tell him with a huge smile on my face. I walk over to him and place my hand on his warm cheek. His eyes shine like they did last night as they stare into my own. I place my lips onto his and I feel him lean into the kiss and smile.
His hands snake to my lower back. As I pull away I look back up at him who's grinning ear to ear.
"I'll start to go get ready," I say and feeling as light as anything I skip back to my room. When I walk past my mirror I can't help but notice my cheeks a bit rosier than usual and my eyes light up just a bit more.
