chapter thirty-one

Sam scrambled to shove me behind him and slowly started to move back.

"You thought it was that easy? Oh Sammy, Sammy, Sammy. You have been so gullible for 21 years. Thinking you could have another shot at a new life. Ha, you never fail to amuse me."

I saw Sam's hands curl into fists and I gently placed a hand on his arm.

"And to think you were just getting over Jess too-"

"You don't know what you're talking about. Son of a bitch!" Sam shouted back, holding back the urge to get closer to the person. I felt his arm getting extremely tense.

With it's eyes flashing a bright yellow, it started to cackle a wicked laugh that sent chills up my spine. Not only was it creepy, it sounded so familiar which freaks me out more.

Something suddenly flashed in my eye and I looked at the monster. The moonlight reflected off of something as it was moving.

I took a closer look around Sam to see it was wearing a ring on its right hand.

The more it laughed the more it started to sink into me. How could I be so blind this entire time. The eyes, the laugh, the voice.

The ring.

I stepped around Sam's large frame and took a step closer to it. I felt Sam's hand grab my wrist, but I looked back at his over my shoulder and gave him a reassuring look.

Confused, after a couple of seconds, he decided to let my wrist go. I turned back to the person staring at me intensely.

"It took you so long to figure it out, didn't you, Blair?"

"I-" My voice feels so dry. "I never realized it was you.."

It chuckled deeply.

"I am a bit disappointed it took you so long to figure out who was behind all of this, Blair. You just kept denying and denying, but, guess what? It's true. I'm real."

It took a step out of the shadows also appeared into the moonlight.

I felt faint as I looked up into the brown eyes of my boyfriend. I should actually say bright yellow now. My heart stopped beating for a second and I questioned if this is even real.

What is going on?

"And unfortunately Blair bear, you're going to have to come with me."

It snagged my arm suddenly and began to drag me away in the opposite direction of Sam. I yelled at the sudden movement and attempted to pry his right grip on my arm as I made it hard for him to drag me.

"Let go of me!!" I cried out, stumbling behind Ashton who's now fully running. "Sam!!"

As I turned my head to look back, Sam was already right behind me and he grabbed Ashton's arm that had a hold on mine and I watched as his biceps rip his hand off of me.

Ashton's shocked face looked behind and as Sam reached to take my hand, Ashton tackled Sam to the ground.

I watched as the two begin to throw fists at each other.
