My mind blanked, my mouth turning rough, dry - like sandpaper.

"What?"

The corner of Alejandro's lip twitched.

"You didn-"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Kayla? Are you in here?"

Cyrus's frantic voice sounded through the door, murderously dangerous. Alejandro opened his mouth to speak, but was quickly cut off by my hand slapping against his mouth. I leant over the coffee table awkwardly, trying not to lean on any of the weapons. His hazel eyes widened in surprise as I glared at him, gritting my teeth.

"Fine. I'll talk about your preposition - but Cyrus can't know, understood?"

He watched me for a second, his intense eyes making me want to reel back. I stayed put, staring back at him stubbornly, before he finally sighed and pulled my hand down.

"Kayla?"

Cyrus's voice was deathly cold - ready to kill anything or anyone who was holding me hostage.

"I am having a meeting." Alejandro called back, his gaze fixed on mine. "Look elsewhere."

The room went silent for a few moments, before an angry thud of Cyrus's fist against the door caused me to flinch. I jerked back at the sound, causing one of the blades to topple off the table, whipping through the air. I moved my foot just in time to avoid the glinting metal as it sliced into the wooden floor, my heart thumping.

The leather handle looked strong as the blade glinted mischievously. I glanced back up, to see the men staring at me strangely.

"What?" I asked defensively. A shot of dizziness swirled around my head and I quickly bit down on my tongue, squeezing my eyes shut.

Nice going, Kayla. Do you think Cyrus is going to walk off now?

But to my surprise, no noise came from the door at all, only the rapid beating of my heart filled the silence. I let out a slow breath, opening my eyes and sitting down slowly. The strange sensation in my head was escalating alarmingly, causing me to clench my fists. I looked up, my eyes hard.

"You want to talk? Fine. Let's talk."

Then the world went black.

I opened my eyes slowly, forcing my eyelids to function. I felt heavy, like someone had filled my head with lead weights. I let out a groan, running a hand over my face.

"Where am I?"

My voice came out slightly raspy, making me cough. I slowly sat up on whatever I was lying on, blinking.

"You sleep like a brick."

I froze, trying to place the male, Mexican voice. My vision came into focus and my gaze landed on a pair of hazel eyes from across the room. The reflection of the moon from the window behind me caused them glow ominously, like lights in the dark.

"Strange. I'm usually a light sleeper." I commented, glancing around me. The room was almost pitch black, a hazy cave with dark corners. All I could see was the two eyes staring back at me, and the faint shadow of my hand. A shiver crept up my back, my hairs standing on edge.

The hazel eyes suddenly crinkled, and a deep chuckle resounded around.

"A bit too dark, maybe." The voice laughed, as if reading my mind. Suddenly light flooded the room, and I blinked rapidly, shielding my eyes. I squinted past my fingers and let out a relieved breath when I noticed the figure behind the eyes.

"Alejandro." I stated, the creeping feeling dissolved. His hands were shuffling a deck of cards, with interesting accuracy.

"Kayla." He replied calmly, abruptly snapping the cards together and placing them on the desk next to him. I was in some sort of bedroom, sitting on a bed opposite Alejandro. He stood up from his chair and crossed his arms.

"You want to talk?"

I nodded wordlessly, still slightly out of it. I slipped off the bed and frowned when something cold pressed against my hip, glancing down. My gun had been placed back in my pocket, much to my surprised. I looked up to Alejandro, who simply offered a small shrug and a smile.

"Trust us, and in return, we'll trust you."

With that, he turned and strode out of the room, gesturing for me to follow with the flick of his hand. For a second, I debated escaping from the window, but the metal against my skin stopped me.

Should I trust them? Could I trust them?
