They have moved on to the absinthe. To be honest, Notch found the situation deplorable. It had been almost three hours, and they were still going on. Why won't one of them admit defeat?
Brian looked like he was going to fail; Lucy looked unfazed by all of the drinking, but of course Brian wasn't going to let someone beat him. That was Brian, Notch supposed, as he gazed after his brother, slightly amused. Always the competitive one.
Brian's brown hair was ruffled messily and his eyes looked tired. He kept slightly moving, like he was ticking or if his body was a glitch. He did not look well.
When Brain downed his fifteenth bottle, he held his mug up onto the air and demanded drunkly, "Another!" Seeming a little afraid, Wisteria poured him another cup, probably afraid of what a drunk God could possibly do. Brain turned to Lucy again, a smug smile on his lips. However, he did not look like he was in control, as he had to hold himself by gripping the back of the chair. The absinthe was sloshing and spilling over his mug. Lucy only pointed her cup to Brian, a genuine worried expression upon her sober face.
"Brian, I think you may need to lay off the drinking." She gently says.
"And admit you won?" Brian laughed, pouring the alcohol into his mouth, swallowing, "Ha! Not a chance!"
"Brian, I am genuinely beginning to worry for your health."
And then suddenly, Brian began cackling like a maniac; loud and sharp. He doubled over, heaving as he grabbed his stomach. "Ha! You're genuinely worried this time!" He mocked, wheezing and panting, his eyes wide. Oh christ, Notch thought, breathing through his teeth, he's having a mood swing.
Instantly, Notch rose up to try to intervene before his little brother says something he would regret, but he was too late.
"Were you worried when you abandoned me and left me to burn?" Brian screamed, rising, slammed his hand onto the table, making the whole room go quiet. Lucy looked shocked, like the breath was taken away from her. A few uncomfortable seconds passed before Brian stumbled back on his chair, his hands hanging limply at his sides. His red face stared at the floor before it scrunched up and he had to cover it with his hands. He was sobbing.
"Oh god," He wept into his hands, like a torn man, "what made you love me less? What is wrong with me? Please... I'm begging you. Tell me why you decided to not have faith in me."
Lucy opens her mouth to speak, but nothing comes out. She appeared to be speechless. Time to intervene, Notch though as he placed his hand on his little brother's head. "Sleep." Notch gently commanded, and a teal spell landed on Brain's head. Instantly, Brian stopped weeping and begun to fall towards Notch. Notch caught him in his arms.
Looking up to the silent crowd, Notch put Brian on his back, giving him a miniature piggy-backride. A nostalgic moment of Notch and his father warmed Notch before it disappeared again.
"We better not tell him about this when he awakes," Notch smiles to everyone, wanting to maintain the calm and cool atmosphere, "He would not like it." And with that, Notch carried his drunken little brother to his bedroom, like he was a mere baby. Which he was, Notch supposed.
