With aching muscles, Lucy pulled herself from the rubble and with the air which was left in her lungs, she screamed, "Alex!"
When nobody replied, a sense of dread began to crawl up her spine. No. No no no no no no no! It wasn't supposed to end like this! She was supposed to win, to defeat Abyss and spit in his hideous smirking face! How and why did she lose?"Alex!" She shouted again, her voice coarse as she stumbled her way across the battlefield. The sky was an ugly red now, grey clouds churning and drooling rain. The castle beyond stood upright, untouched besides from the heavy blowing wind. The battle field, destroyed to crumbles, sharp shards shattered like a huge toddler had been allowed to break and destroy the natural land. Unidentified bodies were littered everywhere.
Lucy's foot hit something and she looked down. She nearly staggered back, shocked. She almost screamed. Below laid Wisteria, her neck completely twisted 180°, the bumps on the back of her head clearly visible. She was an ugly corpse green, her posture and bones shattered, tearing out of the skin. Next to her, was Veronica, clutching Wisteria's cold hand. She was headless. The stump where her head used to be was dipped and there was a pool of blood which was still heavily pouring out. Veronica's body was twisted, the knee bones jutting out of the skin. Just like Wisteria, Veronica was a deep vomit colour, tinted with blue. Her lost head was nowhere to be seen.Suddenly, Lucy was running, or tripping, as she called out panicked, "Alex! Brian! Aria! Anybody?" Abyss couldn't do this to her. He can't just giver her everything and then only to take it all away from her again. Hurriedly, Lucy grabbed her left wrist and wrestled out a black bracelet with seven different charms, two dulled, and looked pleadingly at it. They weren't dead. Not yet. Or could this be some sort of sick trick from Abyss? She looked up, turning around on her heels unsuccessfully to try to find them. Where were they? She pleaded to herself that she could find them alive.
"Lucy..." A voice called out meekly and Lucy gasped as she spun around to face the voice. Brian was laying in the rubble, his lower half of his body squashed beneath heavy grey concrete. His face was covered in bruises, scratches and blood.
"Oh God..." Lucy's voice uttered as she moved like a ghost towards Brain her hands to her open mouth, "Oh God... Brian..."
Bending down, Lucy gripped onto the first piece of concrete she could get a grasp on. "We've got to get you out-" Lucy began, but Brain interrupted, his voice filled with pain and desperation.
"L-Lucy! I-I can't feel my legs!"
Lucy shook her head, hot tears dripping down her face as she whispered, trying to lift the concrete off of Brain, "Don't be stupid. You're fine. You're-" But when Lucy looked at her husband, she fell silent. His face was a mask of dread, defeat and fear; tears were running down his face and he looked utterly destroyed.
Jolts of anger struck Lucy's heart as she stood up slowly, her eyes still on Brian. She dropped the concrete in her hands. How dare Abyss do this? Howling, the wind began to pick up, the rubble and the concrete tumbled off Brian like a mountain of paper. How dare Abyss take everything from her and torture the ones she loved?"I'm going to kill him..." She murmured as her hand reached for the dagger, which blade was implanted into the ground. It was the dagger she had given to Lucifer, just before the battle. Hot way tears and burning fire raged inside of her.
Let's get out of this alive mom!
When her hand had gripped onto the golden handle, she repeated louder, her voice filled with spite, "I'M GOING TO KILL THAT MOTHERFUCKER."
Pulling the dagger from the dirt, Lucy began to march towards the castle. She was going to kill Abyss; She was going to slaughter all of them for messing with her family. But she was stopped."No, don't..." Brian uttered, his voice weak as his hand clutched onto her trouser. Gritting her teeth in frustration, Lucy screamed until her already tired lungs were empty, "Let me go! Don't you see what he's done to us? Don't you see what he's done to you?! Just let me-"
"No!" Brian shouted, tears beginning to fall down his face once again, his shoulders shaking. He became quiet again as he whispered, "You don't understand Lucy! It's... it's all my fault. It's all been my fault."
"W-what..." Lucy's voice became softer, quieter, "What do you mean?"
Brian's hair had shadowed half of his face as he looked towards the floor, sick in guilty silence.Brian held his black, tainted hands under the fall of bright orange lava as a smirk played on his face. The darkness had taken him; there was no going back for him now. Banishment wasn't that terrible. He'd rather spend most of his time in hell, rather than another minute with his back-stabbing bitch of a wife.
'I love you honey-buns!'
'I love you too sugar!'
All fucking lies.
Although, Brian supposed there was some part of him that wanted to believe that Lucy still loved him. There was some part that hoped that it will all end happily. But that part of him was a pussy; naive and stupid. And he, the new him, was neither naive nor stupid. He was strong and cunning.
He was great.A sudden loud crash made Brian twist his head towards a newly made crater on the ground. "Oh?" Brian muttered, his voice low and demonic, "What's this?" As if to answer his question, a young boy stood up, cradling his own weak damaged body in his own hands.
The boy had ebony black hair which appeared too long for him and he wore a black robe with a string of rope tied around his waist. Wearing sandals, the boy took a step forwards, wobbled and then shook his head clearing it. But his face... well, his face was basically fucked up. It was burnt, leaving red-pink marks and one of his black eyes was blocked by swelling. If it wasn't for his small human-like stature, Brain would have mistook the boy for a beast."Hello." Brian greeted, as the boy looked up towards him, his only good eye full of wonder. "...hello..." The boy replied, appearing unfazed by the flames and the lava. Brian narrowed his eyes and saw a bright white shining from the boy. He found himself smirking.
As Brian slinked closer to the boy, stepping delicately on the air, he asked, "What is your name, young boy?"
At first, the boy stepped backwards, hesitantly before he decided to be brave; "Baron."
"Listen here Baron," Brian hugged Baron's neck, smirking, "I see a beautiful potential within yourself."
"Within me?" The boy repeated stupidly and Brian nodded, poking Baron forcefully on the chest, above his heart.
"Yes, that's what I said. Now, here's my proposal: How about you become my apprentice?"
Baron appeared to be shocked at first, before he shoved Brain away, a confused look on his face. "No way old man!" Baron exclaimed, looking around, "Where's Ash? And Angelica? Where are my siblings?"
Brian just gave him a lazy shrug. "I have no idea who you are blabbering on about, but if you become my apprentice, I'm sure you'll be able to find them soon."
Shaking his head, Baron groaned irritated, "Hell no, I'm going to find them myself. I don't need any help from some random old guy."
And with that, Baron began to sprint away and Brian looked after him, still smirking. He may not see it now, that was understandable. Glancing to the crater, Brain noticed something peculiar. A pile of black feathers. Feeling rather scandalous, Brain picked one of the feathers up and twisted it with his fingers."He'll understand soon." Brian uttered to nobody in particular. He held the feather under the fall of lava and when he retraced his hand, a small ashen grey doll was placed in his hand.
He'll understand soon enough.
Sighing, Lucy fell to the floor besides her husband. "Brian..." Lucy started but then she stopped as she spotted someone in the distance.
"What's wrong Lucy?" Brian asked as he noticed Lucy immediately standing up.
"It's Alex!" Lucy cried out, shocked, "He's heading towards the castle." But... he looked different. He no longer walked with cowardice; he walked in long strides, his hands on the swords strapped to his belt. He looked... angry.
"What's he doing?!" Brian cried out as he lifted himself up with his hands to see Alex, "That's a suicide mission!" Biting her bottom lip, Lucy first looked at Brain, all knocked down and defenseless, and then to her son, suddenly confident and livid. And then, Lucy began to sprint towards Alex."Lucy!" Brian cried out, but Lucy blocks out his voice.
She didn't want anybody else to die. Not on her watch.
