The castle was dark and empty, quiet like it was haunted. Shadows lurked the corners, coiling it's cool tentacles around every object it could touch.
Reaching the arc of a door that I was searching for, I found Adrian standing there, waiting. Immediately after I had reached the doorway, he asks, "Where is everybody else?"
I paused before replying, looking straight into his eyes, "They're dead."
