Scarlett:

"Are you excited, Scarlett?" Kefira asked while munching on her breakfast.

I raised my eyebrows in confusion while looking up from my food. Why would I be excited? Was there something going on? I shook my head at Kefira and opened my mouth to voice them out.

"Why would I be excited? Is there an event or something?" The words tumbled out and I saw Kefira frowning slightly as she heard them.

"Well, the blood moon is next week. There will be a huge party for your acceptance, the preparations have already started! I'm so excited for you, you will finally be one of us!" Kefira clapped her hands in excitement and her eyes sparkled.

My head started to spin as I tried to piece things together. What acceptance? Why didn't Aztec say anything about this? He wouldn't hide something as big this from me. How come I didn't see anything around the halls?

You trust him too much

"What do you mean one of us? Kefira what is blood moon?" I grasped her hands and made her face me. She needed to tell me. I'm still in the dark and that thought angered me further. A piece of me didn't want to know and was afraid of the answer.

Kefira seemed to fidget more and tried to make herself look smaller. Her hair covered her face and she mumbled things I couldn't hear. I shook her lightly and she finally faced me.

"Snickerdrops, I'm probably going to get in trouble for this. Scarlett, Aztec is going to official present you as our Queen. You will finally change." Kefira whispered and I saw her looking at me expectantly, almost waiting for my reaction.

"Q..Queen?" I whispered and everything was slowly coming together.

The way everyone bowed down to him. The way they addressed him, even where he lived. I shook my head in denial. This couldn't be. A Queen?

Would you look at that Scarlett, Aztec is the damn King.

My eyes pricked as I felt betrayal hit me hard. Aztec told me he didn't hide anything. He was...the king? How can I be so stupid to believe him? My heart started to hurt and I whimpered as I felt my eyes well up. What did she mean by change?

"I'm not a Queen Kefira, there has to be some mistake," I mumble and I watch as Kefira's face morphs into shock. Realization dawns on her and she bites her lip nervously.

"Scarlett, you are the Queen of Demons, mate to our master Aztec," Kefira said after a few moments. She held my hands in hers and rubbed them softly. As if trying to comfort me.

He is the King.

I vaguely heard Kefira calling my name out but I ignored her. I picked up my skirts and ran out of the kitchen. I started to sob as the situation began to suffocate me. I can't be a Queen. I'm a human, they can't have a human queen.

You need to run. He is going to change you Scarlett.

I shook my head and ran towards the library. Maybe he was in there. I needed to see Aztec. That was the only place I thought he might be in.

I needed answers.

I barged into the library and looked around. It was empty and for a single moment, I wondered about getting out.

You just need to run out of the front door. Your freedom awaits on the other side.

"Aztec," I yelled out as I frantically looked around. My long skirts flowed rapidly around me and I was about to trip. I felt my hair whipping around my back but all that mattered was confronting him.
