Chapter 15

"Please stay," Stiles begged me, "I need you." I looked at him, tears welling up in my eyes, "I can't Stiles. I have to go so this tie can get broken between us." We were Sitting on the ground by Lydia's bed. "What if I don't want the tie to go?" "Why? You can only get hurt. I have to leave before they wake up." I said gesturing towards Lydia and Scott asleep on opposite sides of her bed. I hugged him one last time and made my way down the steps. I got to the door when I felt hands spinning me around. I looked up, it was Stiles, he had hunger in his eyes. "At least let me do this before you go." He said before leaning in and kissing me softly. A tear slipped down my cheek. "What's wrong?" He said looking in my eyes. "You make it really hard to leave." I laughed while crying. "I'm sorry." He said looking at the ground. "Its fine. But I have to go." I opened the door and started to leave. I looked back at Stiles, I could feel his pain and mine. I started off on all fours. I was running for two hours and finally stopped. I was at an abandoned house. I walked up to the door. Something was coming up to me, I was frozen in place. I looked right in it's eyes, they were as cold as ice. It emerged from the darkness.

It was a boy who looked about my age, he was gorgeous. He stepped towards me. I stepped back, "Who or what are you?" He smirked. "My name is Zack. What's your name?" "Eva. What are you?" I said shaking. "I'm a shadowmasker." He said. "What's that?" I asked. "Walk with me, we can go into the house." He said gesturing into the house. I hesitantly followed him in. From the outside, the house looks terrible, but on the inside, it's extremely beautiful. He turned on the lights and he sat down. "So can you explain to me what a shadowmaster is?" I asked. "First it shadowmasker, and second, I can turn into a shadow but my eyes are visible. But I'm also half human so I can switch from my shadow version to my human version." He said. "So you're practically a spirit?" I asked. "I'm a sense, yeah I am." "Do you have any cool powers?" I asked in amazement. "I can form into people's shadows, I can move stuff with my mind, and I can see thoughts." He said. I was amazed. "So tell me about you, seeing as your the only person in which I can't see your thoughts." I looked at him hesitantly and sat in the chair across from him.

"I'm Eva, I'm 17, I'm running away, I'm a werewolf, and I-" He cut me off, "Wait, you're a werewolf?!?" He asked laughing. "Yeah, why is that so surprising." "You just seemed like you were a werecoyote or something." After that there was an awkward silence, then he disappeared. "Looking for me?" He said right behind me, frightening me. I fell out of my chair and he caught me. I rushed out of his hands. "Thanks." I said brushing myself off. "I better get going." I said walking towards the door. "Why? It's been forever since I had a friend." He said walking behind me. "Because I have to get away from Beacon Hills." I said walking out of the door. "Can I come with you?" He said running with me. I stopped and looked at him. "Why?" "Because I haven't had much contact with people since I found out about my powers." He gave me his big blue puppy dog eyes. "Fine." I sighed. He smiled and we began walking. All the way there we asked each other questions. I found out that he was 18, His full name is Zack Smith and he likes the same band's I do. I pulled out my phone, "Wanna listen to some Sleeping with Sirens?" I asked. He nodded and I turned on If you can't hang. We both were jamming out when we came to another abandoned house. He went in in shadow form to make sure it was okay to go into. He came out and gave me the okay. I ripped the boards off of the door and we entered. It was fully furnished and the lights worked somewhat. I checked out all of the rooms and we sat down in the living room.

"So why are you running away?" Zack asked as he rummaged around for some food. "Because I'm linked to someone and this is the only way to get it to go away." I said. "There's another way other than distance. How did the bond come to be?" He asked. "I don't know, It just popped up one day." "Its a love bond. Is he human?" "Yes." "Then, he fell in love with you and put you as a necessity in his life." I looked up at him in shock. "What's the way to get rid of it?" I asked. He looked at me with sorrow, "You have to have sex with someone else." My jaw dropped, "I can't do that." "Then you're going to feel that hollow feeling in your heart forever." "I'd rather have the hollow feeling." I said looking down. "Its only gonna get stronger until you collapse." He said looking at me. I could feel it growing stronger every second. "Let's rest here for the night then get moving in the morning." I said, changing the subject. I went up to the closest bedroom and fell asleep.

"No, No, NO!" I screamed as I sat up straight in the bed. Zack slithered into the room as fast as he could, "What's wrong?" "Just a nightmare." I said catching my breath. I noticed I was crying. "What was the nightmare about?" He said sitting beside me. Then it flicked in:

"Eva! Help me! It hurts!" I heard Stiles cry. I ran through the labyrinth to the sound of his voice. He was hunched over and bleeding out. "Why are you bleeding?" I said sitting him down. "I don't know! It started when you left, I had a hollow feeling and this happened." He said as he showed me the hole where there was no heart and he was, in fact, bleeding out. "You did this to me." He said looking at me with hatred. "No Stiles I didn't mean to-" "YOU DID THIS TO ME! GET OUT OF MY LIFE!" He yelled, towering over me. "I'm sorry..." "WAKE UP AND LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!!" He yelled making me flinch.

That's when I woke up.

"Intense dream." Zack said looking at me. I started bawling. He pulled me into a hug, "It'll be okay. Shhh... I'm here." He said trying to soothe me. I just turned into his chest and kept crying. "Calm down hun, it was just a nightmare." "But, it felt so real." I said sniffing. "Shh..." He said. He started humming and I fell into a deep sleep.
