Dinner Time, Fish is Not Terrible

I sat on the ground heaving and panting, many slashes on the tree above me. I've gotten used to my old work out too much, I need to switch it up more often. A light film of sweat covered my entire body making me feel sticky in the already humid heat. Looking up to the trees above me to my right and left had similar trees but not as many slashes. Duck ass and noodles both took a break, well not exactly it's more like they were forced to by Kakashi. Pinky had already finished her training a while ago. I hoisted myself up into a sitting position, I let out a sigh of air. Taking off my coat and boots has helped, it's so strange to feel the grass and the wind on my skin. I chuckled a little bit, it's almost like those boots and coat is like ankle weights. I heard footsteps coming up behind me.
"Well well, looks like you've made some progress. It's almost dinner time will you join us for once?" The familiar voice of that damned pervert made me look back to him. He was still covered in bandages and still walking with a crutch, but along side him was Kimi. She said a little ways behind him with my trenchcoat dragging behind her. It looked to oversized for her little tiny frame. It was almost, what's the word? I have it on the tip of my tongue, why can't I remember it? She was almost, something. Something positive. Something I've never seen before. She rubbed her eyes sleepily. I felt my cheeks have a flash of heat, only for a second then I found the word. Cute... "Ilver- Silver!" I was snapped back into reality by Kakashi. "You OK you spaced out there for a second." He said a bit concerned, "Is there something on your mind?" My posture straightened and I stood up. "I'm fine. And no I won't be joining you I'll find something else to eat." He hummed in disapproval, "You do realize this is still a mission, you can't just run off by yourself we need to stay together." "I don't give a damn." I said while starting to walk off. "I will let Kimi stay for the night if you come and have dinner with us." That made me stop in place, I was planning on sleeping in the forest again away from everyone. But I didn't even think about Kimi. It would be better for her to sleep in a bed then in a tree. Plus I don't know if I snore or not. And I definitely don't want her to go back to the village. "Fine." I admitted finally. I turned around to face them, "so we're going or what?"
Hands down it was the most awkward dinner of all time. Everyone was awkwardly staring at me as I slowly ate my fish from the top of my dish which consisted of, well fish, and assortment of vegetables, rice, and some sort of a salty seasoning. Or at least I think it was salty, more like it should've been salty. I was basically hoarding the saltshaker adding a good few shakes taking a bite, and repeating the process over and over again. But nothing was coming up. No taste, no flavor. The only sorta flavor at all was coming from the fish, bland but still a taste. Finally noodles broke the silence and asked, "Hey Silver, why are you still wearing gloves?" I stopped picking at my plate and looked down to my hands. Simple white cotton gloves, my leather ones were put away for now. "It's rude to wear outdoor gloves inside, why do you wear that hideous jumpsuit?" I replied. "Hey!" He shouted in protest, "It's not hideous, the only thing hideous is Kakashi-sensei's hairstyle!" He yelled while pointing accusingly. Everyone sweat dropped at that, "I thought we were past that Naruto." Kakashi sighed. A light laughter filled the room. And I found myself smiling a bit. I looked over to my right and found Kimi struggling to hold the chopsticks. "Here, try this." I placed one of the chopsticks between the crevice of her thumb and pointer finger and positioned the other one in an easier way to hold it. "Oh thank you Silver." She looked up to me and smiled and I felt the corners of my mouth rise slightly.
I heard something being muttered under someone's breath to my left. Apparently Naruto heard it as well. "Huh what was that?" Naruto asked curiously. I looked over to see the little boy glare at him from under his fishing cap. I totally forgot he was there, I think his name was Inari. "You guys are all fools! You guys can't beat Gato and his army, you guys will all die-" I cut him off there using my chopsticks in front of his mouth to get his attention. I tilted my head sideways and glanced over, "Do you really think we are really that weak?" He looked taken aback but quickly snapped out of it. "Gato has an army, hundreds of them! There's no way anyone can beat them!" I held my pointer finger up silencing him, "Stop blabbering and answer my fucking question. Do you really think we are that weak that a simple army of civilians can stop a few ninja?" He gripped his teeth and anger and I knew he was about to yell at me, "answer me." I asked calmly before he had the chance to speak. "Yes." He finally admitted. I started to chuckle, my lips spread into a smile. "Hey what so funny? Don't you get it your all going to die!" At this point laughter racked my body as my eyes started to water. "Stop laughing, STOP LAUGHING! YOUR GOING TO DIE, THERE IS NO STOPING HIM." He screamed at me standing up. After a few seconds I calmed down and looked at him. Leaning on my hands and tilting my head in a curious manner."If you really think we're going to die do the job yourself. After all, you have as much power as the beluga whale has. And boo-hoo Hoo, you're complaining to some ninja who don't believe a word you're saying right now. We are not weak, you're weak for thinking that. Don't ever doubt us again you little punk." I finished going back to my dinner. The vegetables were left as well as the rice. I picked up a carrot and bit into it, still bland. I heard Imari sniffle and ran out probably to his room. I turned it to Kakashi, "This is what happens when you make me go to dinner pervert, I hurt a little kids feelings, great. It would've been so much better to let me stay outside."
"That wasn't nice Silver you should really apologize." Kakashi said. I turned to him and swallowed the bit of food in my mouth. With the most serious expression I could muster I answered "Oh bite me pervert." And went back to eating.
