Eva left the apartment before Jumin was awake.

If she was being honest, that was the last thing she wanted to do. But he looked so peaceful, even if she was no longer in his arms.

She smiled to herself as she slung her purse over her shoulders.

The woman thought about kissing his forehead, but she couldn't bring herself to wake him. Jumin worked so hard, and he needed every minute of sleep he could get.

So she left a note on the kitchen counter that said:

Good morning handsome, I left to grab lunch with a friend. Will be back in a couple hours. Call me if you need anything. I love you!

-Eva

The woman smiled to herself as she remembered the note. She hoped he wouldn't worry, and would perhaps... like it. Eva had been with Jumin for months, but whenever she tried something new or different, it always made her a little nervous.

The woman smiled to herself and set a warm hand over her belly. Even if trying new things made her feel anxious, she never wanted that feeling to fade away. She never wanted to grow tired of being in love with Jumin.

In fact, it had just started.

Eva breathed a breath of fresh air as she stepped out of the taxi. Today was reaching almost 40, which rarely happened this early in the year. And she was incredibly grateful for it. The sun felt amazing against her skin for the brief moment she was out on the street.

The woman spotted Si Yeon through the tall glass windows of the cafe, smiling at her friend as she rounded the corner to step inside.

The bell clanged against the window as the sweet smell of coffee filled her nose. Only the barista turned to look her way, waving hello and eager to take her order. There were only a few others in the cafe, due to the inaquidate early afternoon. Eva muttered a prayer as she approached the counter. She had almost forgotten that people might recognize her face.

I haven't been out in public since the news broke.

The woman thought, knowing her ideas were absurd. She may be the center of gossip, but she wasn't a celebrity. Nobody would recognize her unless they took a second glance.

Eva quickly ordered her coffee and shuffled to the back of the seating area. Si Yeon looked up from her laptop and grinned.

"Eva, it's been so long," She greeted, standing up from her chair and giving the woman a hug. "We have a lot of catching up to do!"

But Si Yeon was stiff when Eva wrapped her arms around her. The reunion she had been hoping for was already off to a bad start and she could not understand why.

"Please sit, we have much to discuss..." The emotion in her words were strained.

Eva felt as if Si Yeon was presenting a facade. She was being too formal.

Eva was surprised to not greet the same bubbly and obnoxious personality that she had grown so accustomed to.

Si Yeon... was different.

"How have you been?" Eva smiled, trying her best to stay calm. It was probably her own paranoia. She had been laying low, trying to stay away from the paparazzi and any sort of attention that wasn't from Jumin.

There's not a chance in the world that Si Yeon could have another motive in meeting up with me. She's my friend.

"—Namjoon from work asked me out to dinner. He's really sweet, and I think there could be something there...." Si Yeon's voice came into focus once again. Eva was too lost in her thoughts to catch the first part of her words.
