Chapter 15: He's only looking out for me

(Hiba's POV)

What?!? Getting close to me?

"What???" He slightly flinched at my reaction before regaining his composure.

"Uh- I mean as your friend, I don't want you to get hurt or get yourself in any kind of trouble. I'm trying to look out for you." He paused for a while and took a step closer to me. Speaking with a gruff and masculine voice, "So, please stay away from him!"

Woah woah woah! This is suspicious. I knew I smelled something fishy. He… does not like Byun Baekhyun. Bummer. But why?

"Why? He does not seem like a bad guy to me."

"I saw you with him today, at the cafeteria. Many people are talking about it."

Eh, he saw me with him. And as for people, it does not matter because people are going to talk either way.

"So?"

"Look, I know he's not a good guy. Please try to stay away from him before he gets you in some kind of trouble and you regret even being friends with him."

"I don't believe that." He put down his bag. More like threw it down, because it landed against a pole with a 'thump' and took a few steps forward, coming face to face with me and glared.

"You know his reputation. What he did to Taeyeon. His rude behavior and… what he did to you."

He's like everyone else, judging a book by its cover. Judging him by his cold reputation. Wait wait wait… what he did to me?!

"You think I wouldn't know about him hurting you." I stood there wide eyed, unable to form an answer.

That day… when I was in a time-out. But- how does he know?? I didn't tell anyone besides Mishal and Chanyeol and I know they would never tell anyone else.

"Kai saw you both that day. Him almost crushing your wrist, you running out of class." His stare was becoming slightly uncomfortable. Especially after what he said. I averted my eyes. I couldn't look up.

So he knows. And he is angry. Probably about not telling him. B-but he's creating a fuss over it.

"Suho-ah, it was nothing big. It was just a misunderstanding. Plus it's okay. We are friends now. He may not be the nicest guy I've ever met, but he isn't a bad one either. You worry too much."

"No no! You don't know him." He said in a concerned tone, turning his head slightly to the sides to signal a 'no'. "Hiba, you should know by the stories that go around about him-"

"Those are just stories. That can't be-" I stopped talking when he towered over my small figure and held both of my hands delicately in his bigger ones, his dark brown eyes boring into mine. I exhaled a breath I didn't know I was holding.
