Emily slowly opened her eyes. The pain in her head making it hard to keep herself upright. As she looked around, she noticed that she was in an apartment. It confused her because she had never seen decorations like this before. Well except for...
"Hi Emily."
That voice. She thought she'd never hear it again. Her head swung around and she locked eyes with Maya. While she didn't look as if she'd aged much, her eyes looked tired. Emily had so many questions that she wanted to ask but she could talk.
"Relax Emily. I'm not going anywhere and neither are you."
As Emily paid attention to her voice, she couldn't seem to register what was going on. How was Maya alive after all these years? Why was she here and what did she mean that she was going anywhere? It was then that she realized that her feet were attached to a table by a rope. She tried to move but she couldn't. She then realized that her arms were tied too.
"Why are you doing this?"
"It's only a technicality. Once you get used to me and our new life, I won't need to restrain you."
"Maya..."
"Don't look at me like that Emily! It breaks my heart that you could be scared of me!!"
Em noticed how hysterical the woman was. After the yelling, she heard crying. Her head turned quickly to where the noise was coming from. When she looked back at Maya, she saw how the baby's crying caused her to throw her hands to her ears and rock back and forth.
"Ugh!!! Why is she fucking crying again!?"
Fear etched through Emily's body as she noticed that Maya wasn't well mentally. Her maternal instincts kicked in and she wanted her babies far away from Maya. Maya went and grabbed the crying girl and sat her next to Emily on the sofa. Emily smiled and cried at the sight of Lily. She began shushing the baby and singing to her. When Lily looked up and noticed her mommy, her cries began to subside.
"God! For an infant, she has some lungs on her!"
Emily looked over Lily and was glad that the baby didn't look to be hurt. Her mind began thinking of a solution. She couldn't let anything happen to her girls. Out of everything in her life, Lily and Grace were her prizes.
Maya saw the way that Emily was staring at the little girl and it touched her heart but made her angry at the same time. That should be her and Emily's child. Not Emily and Alison's. she'd watched them for months and the small family made her sick. The love and care between them enraged her. Alison didn't deserve the happiness that she'd witnessed the blonde have.
"Why Emily?"
For the first time since the baby had been placed on the sofa, Emily took her eyes off her to turn to Maya. She looked at her questioningly.
"What?"
"Why? Why do you always run back to the women who mean you no good?"
"What do you mean, Maya?"
"You've always had this crazy pull with Alison. And despite Paige trying to drown you, you still can't stay away from her. Not to much all the others..."
Emily just sat there staring at Maya.
"Well, you don't have to suffer anymore. I'm here. We can raise the babies together and be happily ever after."
"Maya, you can't think this will work. Alison will-"
"Alison will what? Come looking for you? She's mad at you, remember?"
"She might be mad at me but she will come looking for her children. For us."
The thought seemed to upset Maya again. She got up and slammed her hands on the table.
"I won't let that bitch continue to live the life that should be mine! You are mine Emily!! Mine!!!"
Maya threw several punches at the air before grabbing Lily off the sofa. The little girl began to cry again before Maya put her in the room and shut the door. She came back and sat in front of Emily.
"Do you know how long I've wanted you? To approach you and let you know that I was okay, that I survived... only to see you with another woman? Everything I went through to get back to you, and you just moved on from me like it was nothing."
Emily just stared at her. She never quite knew what happened to Maya. She just knew that she was dead and Lyndon James was responsible.
"Maya... what happened to you?"
Maya looked away from Emily. Tears started to well up in her eyes and she shuddered from the chill that spread through the room.
*Flashback*
Maya was on the way walking home from her friend's house. They'd just finished smoking and drinking so and was on cloud nine. She'd met a few new, older friends including Garrett, at her friend's party. They'd made out and she was doing everything in her power to forget Emily.
Emily just didn't understand. Smoking weed helped her to relax and it also helped with her music. She needed it but she realized that her girlfriend was just too sweet. She was almost a goody two shoes and that made Maya smile. How she'd ended up with a sexy as hell jock of a girlfriend who was also a square was beyond her. But she'd come to love Emily Fields will her whole being. Arguing with her was killing her.
As she was walking home, she noticed a cop car pull up beside her. It was Garrett.
"Hi cutie. Get in for a second."
Maya grinned before getting in to the squad car. He smiled at her as she smiled back.
"So are you going to Kahn's?"
"Yeah. I just want to relax. You know, mellow out."
"Have you talked to your girlfriend?"
"Emily? No. We argued and I just need some space."
"Her and her friends are snooping around. They should really be more careful."
"Snooping? What's going on?"
"Has she ever mentioned her little friend Alison?"
"Yeah... the one who's dead right?"
"Yeah, sure. I can't believe this town is falling for that shit."
"What do you mean? They found her body in my basement!"
"They found a body in your basement..."
Maya looked over at Garrett. There was so much that she wanted to ask him but a call came in on his phone.
"Just be careful okay? Kahn isn't as innocent as he pretends to be. I'll see you later."
She got out of the car and watched as his squad car pulled away. She wondered what he meant but she started feeling paranoid, like someone was watching her. She looked around and sped walked the short distance to her house. As she packed a bag, preparing to go to Noel's cabin, she got a text message to her phone.
*You can run, but you can't hide. You left me for that bitch Emily didn't you? What's she got that I don't? Don't worry bitch! Be careful*
She threw her phone down and screamed a little. Why couldn't he leave her alone. She decided to text Noel.
*Hey can you pick me up*
*Noel- No problem. B right there*
She looked around her room making sure she had everything. She looked at the picture of her and Emily from the party and couldn't help but smile. She picked up the row and put it in her bag. She needed her space right now but she knew in her heart.... she'd always love Emily.
