Kenna's POV
I had never been to a college campus before.
"New London, Connecticut. Nice."
Dean said as he strolled by me.
I smiled at him.
We were headed to a campus pub called "Humphrey's" to catch up with Castiel, and for Dean to check out the hot undergraduates.
I can't lie and say I wasn't doing the same.
Sam was gone, investigating Brennan's house during one of her class times.
The smell of the bar was hot and toxic.
Much change, compared to the cold wind and piney smell of the outside.
We spotted Cas looking incredibly uncomfortable as a waitress was bent over his table, fully exposing her cleavage.
I tried to hold back my laughter as we moved towards him.
I had a quick and entertaining thought.
"I'm going to go save the choir boy. Get me a drink, will you?"
I asked Dean.
His face scrunched up.
"Ken your underage."
He stated giving me an authoritative look.
"Don't be an idiot..."
He continued to glare at me.
"Relax, I meant a soda."
He let out an embarrassed 'oh' and walked over to the bar.
I made my way over to Castiel and sat down across from him.
Obviously pissing off the blonde waitress who was hitting on him.
"Hey baby."
I stated, putting my hand over his and squeezing.
He caught the hint. Thankfully.
"Hi, dear."
He said monotonously.
I smirked at the lady, and took a quick look at her name tag.
"Hi Beth. Can you bring us a party sized nachos tray, please?"
She nodded and practically scowled at me before sashaying away.
Cas let out a breath of relief.
"Thank you."
I gave him an annoyed look, this wasn't the first time I'd saved him from a woman.
"Yeah, you're welcome. If you get uncomfortable around women, just order something or tell them your husband will be here soon. Trust me they'll catch a clue."
Finally Dean arrived with a beer and a coke.
"So what the hell are we looking for, Cas? Is it a werewolf? Are your spidey-senses tingling?"
I snickered at Dean's bluntness.
Most of which Castiel did not understand.
"From what I can tell yes, but it's not Eva Brennan. Its her husband. I think he's a pure blood."
My face went pale, and Dean clenched my hand.
"Sammy."
We said in unison before grabbing our coats and running out of the pub.
Castiel wasn't far behind us.
In fact he was already strapped up in the backseat when we got to the car.
"Why are we leaving? Kenna did not receive her nachos yet."
Cas asked, leaning forward in his seat.
"We sent Sam to go search the house while Brennan was teaching a seminar. Her husband is probably home right now."
Dean said as he yanked the car out of the lot.
I sat next to him, with tears in my eyes, silently praying that we would make it in time to save Sam.
-
I raised my hand for a quick moment and the door exploded into a hundred pieces.
I ran into the house first, tears burning my eyes in absolute fear.
The sight I came upon almost had me stuck with terror, gagging.
It was Sam.
He was clawed up, head to toe.
I saw the wolfs body lying on the ground with a bullet in its chest.
Without a second to spare, I was next to him.
He was barely breathing.
Tears were steaming down my face as I gazed up and down his chest.
I was kneeling in his blood.
I felt myself fill with anger.
"Oh god, Sam."
I heard from behind me.
I turned around and without thinking I threw both of the men against the wall with a swing of my arm.
I turned back to Sam and placed one of my hands on his face and used the other to hold him close to me.
"quae adhibentur contra vulnera"
I whispered, repeatedly.
I gripped him even tighter to my chest, not giving a fuck that I was being soaked in blood.
I felt the ground shake beneath us briefly.
Sam's arms suddenly wrapped around my waist.
"Oh thank god."
I cried out in relief.
I heard movement around the room, but kept my eyes glued to my dad.
"What the hell was that?!"
Dean screamed at me.
"What? He's okay."
I said while I helped Sam stand up.
"Yeah and you also body slammed me and Cas into that wall, and your eyes were all weird looking. They were glowing green, Kenna."
I closed my eyes in remorse.
"I'm sorry. I panicked. I probably thought you were trying to hurt us."
Cas was standing behind Dean, giving me the dirtiest of looks.
"You're breaking. Aren't you?"
Cas asked taking a step towards me.
I gasped, almost dropping Sam.
"No. That's not possible. I'm not natural born."
He shrugged knowing that I was hiding something.
-
Back at the bunker, Dean had yet to talk to me.
He didn't even want to be in the same room as me, and I couldn't bare to look at him limping from what I did to him.
Sam was sleeping off the unfortunate event and I was there watching him.
Making sure that my spell wouldn't backfire.
"Kenna."
I heard behind me as a breeze blew behind me.
"Hey Cas."
I felt him put a hand on my shoulder.
"It's getting worse, isn't it? Your urge to resist the good and follow the wicked. I can help."
He whispered careful not to wake up Sam.
I turned to him.
"How? I feel like I'm breaking more and more every day. I don't know why, and I don't know how to stop it. I'm terrified."
My voice cracked as I spoke.
He crouched in front of me and put two fingers on my head.
He shut his eyes for a moment before looking back up at me.
"Your mother put up a dam in your brain to withhold the evil that lies within you, along with your memory of being a natural born witch. It's not strong enough to hold it all back anymore. The more you use your powers the more you tear the wall."
I looked down at my hands.
It almost didn't make sense.
"If my mom was as horrid as they say she was...why did she do this? Why make me forget that I'm bad?"
I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
He put a hand on my knee.
"I wish I had an answer for you, Kenna. In order for me to put in a stronger wall...I will have to remove the old one. It will be painful."
I shut my eyes, trying not to let fear get the best of my judgment.
"I don't care. I need help, Castiel.
He nodded and squeezed my knee.
"I know, child."
