{Van's POV}
When I walked home from my best friend, Lin's house, the sight I saw made my jaw drop.
Police tape. Wrapped all around my house. Police cars, two of them in my driveway, and one in the street.
A policeman saw me gaping at my house, and asked me to keep in walking, in a polite way.
"But...I want to see my parents!" I cried.
"What's your name?" the policeman asked.
"Sa....Savannah Fredericks," I stuttered.
The guy started whispering in my ear.
"You're parents went on a sort of vacation. You have to come with me. We're going to take you someplace safe, okay?"
I nodded, wiping tears from my eyes.

The police officer took me and my possessions to the Roseton Orphanage.
He left me with this lady, Ms. Turner, who owned the orphanage.
Ms. Turner had dark brown hair that was up in a donut bun.
She was short, and a bit chubby, and had a pale face, and red lipstick.
She had green eyes, the color of grass right after it rains, when it's all bright and happy.
She wore a pink sweater, with a rose brooch on the pocket.
She had denim jeans, and black Mary-Jane shoes.
She kind of scared me at first, but she smiled, and seemed genuinely nice.
She let me inside, and waved good-bye to the police officer. He had had a long conversation about why I was here, only mouthing a few words so I wouldn't understand.
At first, I wasn't happy about staying here. I had no clue it would be my home for the next six years.
