{Shailene's POV}
"Shailene, I'm so sorry that I have to tell you this, but you have stage five neuroblastomia. It's terminal, and it's spreading through your body faster than I've ever seen," the doctor said, as I laid in bed.
"In other words, you have a day to live."
The words stung like a billion bees. A day to live. But doc, I'm only seven! I wished there had been a mistake, but I knew there hadn't been.
"There is a small chance of a coma, rather than the cancer immediately reaching your brain, however," the doctor said.
Great, I thought, even if I stay alive, I'll be asleep forever.
This didn't seem real. I knew it was going to happen, but why so soon?
"Can I go now?" I asked the doctor. He nodded, unhooking me from the machinery.
I changed back into my regular clothes, and walked out to the waiting room, where Ms. Turner, Rachael and Savannah sat nervously. When they saw me, their faces lit up.
I whispered to the doctor, "So, one day starting now?" He nodded.
"Have a good day. You deserve it," he patted me on the back, and Ms. Turner led the three of us girls to the car, and we drove back to the orphanage.
{}{}{}
"Only one day to live?" Rachael asked in shock. I nodded.
"Well, twenty-three hours now," I looked at the clock.
I sighed. My friends were trying to be strong right now, for me, and I knew it. But I also knew on the inside, they were crumbling, breaking down, and on the inside, crying.
Kind of like me.
But instead of crying, I was dying.
(Author's Note: So, sad chapter, I know. But it had to be done. Not really, but I wanted to make the book more dramatic.
I find it ironic, and I swear I didn't do this on purpose.I realized this after I wrote this chapter.
Shailene Woodley plays Hazel Grace, a girl with terminal cancer, in The Fault In Our Stars.
Shailene in my story has terminal cancer.
Excuse me if I spelled or got the name wrong talking about Shailene Woodley and Hazel Grace. I don't know if that's spelled right or if Grace is the last name XD.
Very serious and sad chapter coming up next.
Don't hate me.
Don't.
Just know, I have some friends that don't deal well with hate. I can send you to them :P.
