We talked again, not the same exact way, but at least we talked.

She managed to avoid Peter when I was around, but when she returned after disappearing for days or weeks she would have bruises all over her body.

She basically lived with me, only went home to get clothes but I went with her to protect her.

It's was nearing the end of school, April was passing by quickly. I spent most of my time studying for finals while Luna slept.

I had to protect her.

I woke up before dawn to an empty bed. Her stuff was gone but a note was placed on my bedside table.

Went home, mom wanted to see me.

Love you,

Luna.

I felt better knowing she was with her mother and safe, but I still felt worried. She was so tiny and frail, like she could break from the slightest touch.

I rubbed my eyes and began getting ready for school, showering and slipping on something suitable.

I laid around until it was time to go and drove to school worrying about Luna and where she was.

She didn't show up for class until the last five minutes and she looked healthy.

Her hair was done, her skin looks normal and her clothes were actually clean. For the first time in a long time, she wore red lipstick.

I hugged her after class. "You look well."

"Mom's doing. She just noticed I've been gone." She picked at her nails and her hands were shaky.

"Are you cold?" I asked as her body started to shake.

"Kind of. Just sick. I'm going to puke." She mumbled and we walked outside. She puked up the few contents of her stomach and then some blood. When she finished, I gave her water. "Withdraw sucks. I feel like I'm dying." She chuckled at her statement although it wasn't funny. I smiled, happy to hear her laugh again.

We walked in the halls knowing we were late and then went our separate ways.

After school, when I picked her up, I found her shouting at Peter. He stood over her small body and smacked her face, yelling some obscenities, I ran out of my car and to her side.

"Back the fuck up Peter!" I pushed him away from her and stood between them.

He laughed,"So the bitch gets her lesbian lover to save her, classic."

I got in his face. "I am protecting her because you made her unable to do it herself, you piece of shit."

He looked down at me and shoved me into the wall and bent down. "You're the piece of shit." He hit my head and then my jaw, until Luna stepped in and hit him over the head, causing him to fumble.

"Let's go." We walked to my car and drove home, my face bleeding while Luna cried and apologised.

"It's not your fault. I'm fine, we just need to go home." And so we did, she stopped apologising and just listened to the sad songs filling the car.
